  • Can I have two (or more) simultaneously activated computers

    -Sorting this out now.

If a client wants the camera masters (and they aren’t always post houses) would their only option be to purchase Content Browser?

Until June we will have the free serial # download active on the site. Also V 1.1 will be available with no serial # requirement. I’m hoping we can keep an older version with no serial # requirement on our site or at least on my FTP. If not, and all other options are exhausted, yes, V2 will require a chargeable serial number.

I can’t make the serial # requirement go away but am fully aware that there are going to be plenty of instances where people need V2 and did not recently purchase a camera. This is why we fought for every other option we could think of to make it a little easier– the 3 month free download, site licenses for multi-seat requirements, multiple activations (still working on this part) etc.

Will import plugins remain available and free for FCPX and Avid AMA (and FCP7) ?

Yes, all the plugins will remain free. It’s only the Browser software that will require a serial # to cover licensing fees.

Does a screen pop up telling you in several languages that you need to restart? I have it running here on a 10.8.2 Retina and it installed and runs fine (albeit on a more or less factory install of the OS and very little else on the machine). Can you try looking in Console at the system log to see what might have happened on launch or where the conflict might lie? If you want to send it to me offline, feel free. ian dot cook at am dot sony dot com.

Is this with the free download version (where we email you a serial #)? Otherwise the serials are provided with the F5/F55 cameras. After the promotion runs out there will be a mechanism to purchase a serial for 20.00.

You can also use Content Browser 1.1 with no serial # or restrictions.

The reason for the Xs in the older version of XDCAM Browser is that the metadata structure of the F3’s .mp4 file wrapper was updated, and you need a newer version of software to read these files. You can use XDCAM Browser 2.6 or Content Browser 1.1, both of which are free, or you can do the free 2.0 version. If the latter is not working for you, please let me know the details.

The Browser and Transfer apps can co-exist on the same machine without conflict.

Download V 1.1, it does not require a serial. V2 requires a serial that currently ships with the new F5/F55 cameras. You don’t need V2 unless you are doing XAVC or RAW.

You should be using Browser with Mountain Lion. That said, I’m surprised that it will see cards but not stored disc images.

  • yes, this is possible, just make sure:

    -FAT (EX) mode
-record format is a 25 Mbps SP codec
-i.LINK = enabled in OTHERS menu
-i.LINK IO option selected in Video Set–>SDI/HDMI/i.LINK IO Select

No worries, Robin– if anything I share the frustration over the whole multiple-software-sites thing. It’s only temporary until we get all the redirects worked out. Thanks for hanging in there.

the up to date UDF driver is on the Sony Creative Software site:

    https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/sxsudfdriver

The latest device driver is on the pro media site:

    https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/mkt-recmedia/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-mkt-recmedia-downloads-upgrades.shtml

I know this is wonky; we are in the process of getting everything centralized on/redirected from the main XDCAM site but are a bit behind due to NAB prep and other factors
