  • Is live stream from PMW-200 into MacBook Pro via. FireWire possible?

Hi, can this be done? I’ve read a few posts elsewhere that say this is a problem, at least for the EX-1, via HD FireWire. But as far as I know, the two cams are essentially identical. I’ve also read I need to shoot in FAT. Questions, questions.

Can someone recommend what I need to worry about? Or do? The potential client wants a live stream from my camera into the computer via FireWire for a google ‘chat room.’ The stream will go for about 3 hours.

    Thanks very much in advance.

yes, this is possible, just make sure:

    -FAT (EX) mode
-record format is a 25 Mbps SP codec
-i.LINK = enabled in OTHERS menu
-i.LINK IO option selected in Video Set–>SDI/HDMI/i.LINK IO Select

Since you don’t mention the age of the MBP, if it has Thunderbolt you can use a Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder and go HD-SDI straight out of the camera. If you do have an older Core2Duo MBP be aware that encoding HDV for a live stream is processor intensive.
