Transfer should work under Mountain Lion but is technically discontinued and not supported. You may want to use Content Browser (for all XDCAM formats but required for Optical disc) or the PDZK-LT2 plugin which allows you to import directly within FCP using the Import Media command.

Transfer is looking for resources associated with FCP 7 because it was never intended as a plugin for X. We may be able to install them manually but it’s better to use the supported applications..

Simultaneous/sync record is possible; the camera sends rec start/stop and TC over the SDI. If you can get your hands on a Sony SR-R1 that’s the best combination. You can do SR File recording at up to 880 Mbps and synchronized over/undercrank.

Any antivirus software on the machine? Try disabling it. Do you see the correct folder structure (Clip, Sub, Edit etc) in Windows Explorer?

What file are you importing? Are you working in HD422 or in EX mode?

In HD422/UDF mode you import the .mxf and in EX/Fat mode you import the .mp4. It’s also not recommended that you import the files using File–>Import. If you use the embedded media Browser you can set it to the file based format you are importing (for example, ‘XDCAM HD’ or ‘XDCAM EX’), click on the card or card archive and access the files from there without having to drill down into the folder structure.

Happy to help.. It’s a very easy tool to use. It runs off a web application on the camera so you access by typing the camera’s IP address into the URL field of any web browser. No separate app is required.

Basic Wifi setup for Peer to Peer connection with iOS device. First select the camera’s SSID from the network list, then click on that network and assign the iPad/iPhone a static IP in the same range as the camera:

Again, Transfer is no longer supported but seems stable under Mountain Lion. If you want to risk it that’s up to you.

You really shouldn’t be offloading cards with Transfer– it has no verification capabilities and is really only meant for converting to .mov. We’d recommend using Browser for this.

FCP X can be used with either our PDZK-LT2 plugin (works within the app; no separate browser) or, if more detailed logging/sub-clipping is necessary, Browser can also be used as an FCP X plugin.

That depends. You should really have both on the system. CB is better for management, archiving/copying (with CRC verification) and has a lot of features XDCAM Transfer does not have. It is also going to be the only choice once we move beyond Mountain Lion..

That said we still prefer the Transfer application for FCP imports. It does background processing (doesn’t lock up the application/MAC during transfers), has better support for sub-clips and spanned clips and has a cleaner, easier to navigate interface. I’d recommend staying with Transfer for as long as it works. If it fails or starts misbehaving it should not pose any risk to your data; it will simply stop working.

works, though technically unsupported beyond Lion.. we have it running here with no issues. if you have trouble you’ll need to switch to Content Browser.
