So you can export now but only one clip at a time? That is different from the situation before, correct? The MXF for NLE option should be available for any EX .mp4 clip. Can you try creating a new BPAV on your desktop? File–>Import a loose .mp4, this will create a BPAV in whatever folder location you have highlighted in the Explorer window. The new BPAV will have new clip metadata. Then try import/export, also using a local folder as the destination.

It may also be a good time to do a permissions repair in Disk Utility..

Can you try reinstalling Browser? It sound like it’s not seeing your FCP installation. (Make sure FCPX resides in the root of the Applications directory…)

ok, so, just to confirm– the BPAVs load up, you can see thumbnails and play clips, but the import option is greyed out?

can you check that the FCP preference is set to X and that you have a valid destination folder set? both of these are in the FCP tab of the preferences.

I have to respectfully point out that much of the below is not accurate.

Avid, Premiere, Vegas, Edius and most other NLEs accept .mxf files natively, and all of them support direct import or linking of XDCAM .mxf files. Media Composer 4/5 are a bit old and the older AMA plugins can have some issues with the more recent .mxf files from the PMW100/200/500. If this is what you are running into you should call it into Support on either side and you will get some assistance. You may also be able to directly import the files into Media Composer. Note also that AMA plugins are paired exclusively with their specified Avid versions. Avid’s site and https://www.sony.com/xdcam-downloads have breakdowns of which plugins are used with which versions.

What kind of files are you trying to rewrap? You can only rewrap XDCAM, XDCAM EX and XAVC files. Is the FCP preference tab set to “X”? Also you do not need the Advanced Pack for rewrapping to .mov.This is a basic feature of the application and doesn’t require an option.

As an alternative you can also use PDZK-LT2 for XDCAM import directly within FCPX, although CB should do this just fine. Please supply some details on what is happening and what kind of files you are attempting to work with.

No, our plugins do not transcode to ProRes. Upon import to FCP/conversion to .mov they only re-wrap the MPEG-2 XDCAM video. If you need ProRes you can use Compressor or FCP on the Transfer-generated .mov files. The XDCAM codecs perform well in FCP so it will depend on what you prefer or if you have to work in ProRes for other reasons.

JFYI the Apple implementations of the XDCAM codecs are not a form of ProRes. They are very different codecs with different profiles.

You may have an older version of the plugin– there were two different ones, one for 6 and one for 7. It’s also not supported under Lion. You should maybe consider Content Browser or XDCAM Transfer. All the existing XDCAM plugins have been replaced by Content Browser, and if you don’t want to purchase a CB version 2 serial (20.00) you can still use version 1.1 for free.

XDCAM Transfer is also discontinued but has been tested under Lion and operates normally. Look under ‘Legacy Applications’ at our main download site– https://www.sony.com/xdcam-downloads

Transfer is at End of Life and won’t be coming back. I like it too but it makes more sense to only have to maintain one application rather than the 6-7 Content Browser replaced. If Browser seems more complicated it’s because it does more whereas Transfer was a dedicated import plugin. The workflow is still basically the same, though… Highlight the clips you want and Import. I understand there are other reasons we like Transfer (for me it’s the background processing) but the basic import steps are the same.
