    Hi William

I don’t want to worry you but you may have a faulty camera,, the clips should not behave like this and for that reason Sony Prime Support have requested that I return my camera as they think it has a fault!

    Hi William

I had a look at the numbers on the end and they are the same, so know way of identifying the clips! as you will see from 063_3579_01 which appears twice.

    Hi David

I have just returned to the office and looked at the last project I was working on, my footage is xdcam ex on a xdcan timeline, sequence settings are xdcam and so is the render control. Before I export to QTM I would normaly render anything that needs render when I do this it tells me it will take 2 hours!

However if I render the Unlimited parts of my project this only takes a few minutes, and then I export to QTM using current setting, this takes about 30 minutes on a 2 hour sequence does that sound write! certianly a lot faster that 2 hours.

    Cheers iain J

    Hi David

I have been working in the xdcam format ie dragging the clip to the timeline. However I have been changing the render control to pro res 422Lt which means I have to render everything at the end of my edit which takes about 2 hours.

I then output to QTM but have been changing the settings from current to pro res 422lt which again takes 2 hours.

I will follow your instructions on my next edit.

Thanks for your help and advise.

    Hi David

thanks for the reply, In future should I set up a Apple Pro res Sequence and drop my footage into that! and then render the footage before I start the edit! I presume that I don’t need to change settings in the render control!

How long should it take to render a 90min timeline using a Mac Pro 3.06 Intel Core 2 Due is 2 to 3 hours about write

    Hi David

Even I am confused I think I’m using the wrong settings! i have been making my sequence the same as my clip excam 1080i wham I’m ready to export for some reason it either wants to conform the footage, which again takes forever. So what I have been doing is setting my render to apple pro res 422Lt, my footage the need render and this takes 2 to 3 hours. After the render process has ended I then export to QTM and I change my setting from current to Apple Pro Ress 422Lt, this normally takes 2 hours, the into compressor to down convert to sd using best 120 min this takes about 5 hours,

I think from raiding forums that I should be making a Pro Res 422Lt timeline, dropping my footage into this and redeeming the footage before I start the edit! And at the end of the edit I would export QTM and tick make self contained, and within a few minutes I would have a QTM to drop into compressor. Is that correct!

    Hi David

Thanks for the quick reply, sorry my render settings are Apple Pro Res 422LT – my projects are weddings and around 90min to 120min in length. when I export a QTM I’m not sure whither to use current or apple pro res 422lt !

either way it takes for ever!

    Hi Ian

I think I have finally found a solution to my problem, I tried importing using the USB on the Camera with both Cards mounted on the desk top I was able to import both into L + T in FCP, all the clips showed up and spanned as they should do.

    Cheers Iain
