Anybody got experience with Proprompter app for the ipad controllable via an iphone? I’ve seen the setup with Proprompters hardware that utilizes an ipad – but I wondered how responsive & smooth the speed control would be.

  • I was a little late in getting to this article – but was intrigued since I need to increase storage capacity on my current FCP system and will be adding a second edit suite to share that storage in the near future. Could you give more details about your system?

Thanks for the help – I had done step 2 but not step 1!

I use a free download called mpeg streamclip. It sees the info from the Video TS and Audio TS and allows you to output a variety of formats that are FCP friendly. You can also set in & outpoints so there’s no need to convert the entire disc.

    Patrick,

I’d like more info on your plugin & its availability. I often shoot engineers/CEOs that won’t consent to
    go the makeup route.

I have run FCP on an older Powerbook and avoided the FW conflict by running the camera into the external drive directly and running FW 800 from the G RAID to the computer.

April 30, 2008 at 6:42 pm in reply to: What HD Monitor to buy?

Read this whole thread with great interest as I am looking to purchase immediately an HD monitor for client viewing fed by me NLE station. I am currently editing all SD but have the Sony XDCAM EX1 on order – so I will be viewing both. The Panasonic TH-42PH10UKA is what I’m looking at – but its native resolution is 1024×768 rather than 1920×1024, which is what the EX1 will shoot. My SD stuff looks great on this – and in a corporate setting, much of my stock SD will live on in future projects. Any advice appreciated.

    OK FYI…in case you’re curious…I got it to work…
When I downloaded the clip, both the flag portion and the following alpha version were one long clip.
I went back and exported them as separate clips from FCP and then it worked…so I guess it was
actually usiing the wrong portion of the clip on my first attempts. I could probably have fixed this
in motion telling it what frame to start the image mask on…but the export also fixed the problem.

    Lesson learned…thanks for the help

You’re exactly right about troubleshooting these things via text! I am set to view color on the canvas and yes,
the layer matte is hidden – not checked, which it did automatically when I set the source of the matte. All
blend modes are set to normal except the image mask itself, which is “add”. Thanks for the additional input…if
I find out what the missing piece is, I’ll post it … perhaps it will save someone else the frustration!

Thanks for the reply. This did knock the black background out, but left the foreground as the solid
white flag rather than the checkered version. I double-checked to make sure I applied the image
mask to the flag clip and the source for the image mask was the flag matte. I had the flag matte
as the upper layer – although changing this didn’t affect the outcome. Makes me think I’m going
    crazy! Any other advice?
