My laptop with my teleprompt software has finally packed in after 10 years.

Can anyone recommend cheap teleprompt software?

I’ve got all the hardware rig (reflector, hood, monitor, rgb-video converter, spare laptop)

Just need some new software, ready for the next round of shooting VIPs.

I don’t mind using the mouse for display speed control, if a dedicated hand controller is expensive (it shouldn’t be but distributors like adding high mark-ups for obscure pieces of plastic).

For prompting on PC laptops, check out DRS Digitrax, I love and recommend it.

Telescreen 32 or the light version.

I’ve been using DRS-Digitrax Teleprompter Telescr5.x too. Good software. Reliable, but free upgrade seems to apply to versions with the same prime number, eg. v5 upgrade to v6 is not free. Same as most other software, I suppose. But the software is a few hundred $.

You could try the freeware mirrorscript from –

Needs Framework 1.1 (even if you have a later version installed).

Additionally, for control of the prompter, I’ve been using the Shuttle Jog Controller but its size is a bit cumbersome compared to this –
    Griffin Powermate : https://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate

Since it is programmable (like the Shuttle), should work fine. I just ordered two units for myself!!

I use the powermate and love it. I also use the powermate with Final Cut Pro for scrubbing large timelines. As for software I can get Flip-Q to work with my MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.2 but not with my Vista PC. I got a RMA and returned the thumb drive to Prompter People. When I got it back it worked with Mac but still not the PC. I welcome any additional recommendations.

Mark, Thomas, Martin … thank you for your valued advice and endorsements.

There are some good prices in there.

Funnily enough we’ve actually had a short break in teleprompt shoots, which has been handy, to say the least.

    Thanks again for the help.

Anybody got experience with Proprompter app for the ipad controllable via an iphone? I’ve seen the setup with Proprompters hardware that utilizes an ipad – but I wondered how responsive & smooth the speed control would be.
