I´m using Neat Video for denoising.
Cheap, but best denoiser-plugin i´ve seen so far. It also helps with compression artifacts.

Hi Marco,

Is this a new installation or did it already work with Color?

If you´re new to the Spectrum here´s the way to make it work:
You have to power up the Spectrum first, wait a few seconds until you see:
“JLCooper Electr……..etc”.
Then you power up the MCS3000. Watch the display.
If it reads”MCS-3000 Spectrum found” you can use the Spectrum.
If it doesn´t check the small cable between the MCS3000 and the Spectrum.

The MCS3000 is the one which “communicates” with DaVinci via ethernet.
The Spectrum is just an expansion to it.

thanks for your thoughts, very helpful!
The combination works very well with Resolve. As far as I can tell,
cause I´m relatively new to Resolve. I used it a long time with Color/FinalTouch. I have the sticky parade on the panel as well to get used to the new layout.

Hi Ron,

do you have an overview of what are the differences between the JLCooper, the Resolve Panels and the Wave Panel.

I only know the JLCooper MCS3000/Spectrum combination, which might be comparable to the ECLIPSE but I would like to know, if you see any advantage on the other panels.

I will appreciate your thoughts on that subject.

Officially it´s the JLCooper Eclipse CX which is supported.
The Spectrum in combination with the MCS-3000 and an ethernet interface is “technically” the same beside the housing and the touch of the Buttons,balls,rings etc.

It works very well with Resolve. I can´t directly compare it to the wave
functionwise, ´cause i´ve no experience with it, but I tried out the wave at IBC last year and all I can say from first impression is that I´m very thankful for the JLCooper Support of DaVinci.

I´ve been using it for the last years with Apple Color and before that with FinalTouch. The layout of the functions is totally different now
(as are the functions) and i have to get used to it!

Maybe I´ll try to remap some keys with the JLCooper Software.

I WOULD expect Resolve to output both fields when
“output fields when paused” is checked!

Hi Romeo,
I agree with Michael, the footage looks like 16/9 letterbox misinterpreted as anamorphic.
You can shift-select all items which are affected in the browser and right click in the anamorphic tab to get rid of the misinterpretation.
Just make sure your sequence is also non anamorphic 4/3 aspectratio.

Hi Amy,

the best way to assure best quality (in my opinion) is to go with the easy setups in FCP. Just make sure you choose the setup your camera is workin in while shooting. If you´re shooting 1080p adjust the easy setup to HDV1080p30. If you´re shooting Interlaced it would be better to get the equivalent easy setup. I prefer to do this before creating a new project and start ingesting.

In terms of outputting to DVD you have to consider, that you´re downsizing the picture to SD. Sometimes (depends)it´s a good way to blur the Picture vertically between 1-2 pixels before downsizing(Encoding in iDVD). This will smooth out High Contrast edges between horizontal lines,
without loosing very much detail and the compression to DVD will look
subjective better to your audience. I am using the german version of FCP, but I think it must be something like the directional blur to accomplish that.

OK, found out myself.
Got it to work via Ethernet, so no card switching to usb-Interface.
Good amount of controls.

To move the steelbar the right way, push the tiny white button on the grey fan-enclosure at the back of the PCI-Slots and slide it away from your PCI-Cards. The steelbar will move to the same direction. After that action it´s much easier to pull the cards.
