    Hi.
    It’s 4:3.
    The end product is to be a DVD played on a laptop.
    The animator originally provided me with a file in the animation codec, which he did in After Effects and created it with square pixels.
    I imported this into FCP, and placed it in a NTSC DV 4:3 sequence and that’s where I initially noticed the squishing. If I switch the sequence settings to square pixels, it looks fine, but no matter what I do the encode from Compressor to .m2v looks bad.
    Next, the animator provided me with a new file that he says was exported as NTSC, but what he really did was squish it horizontally, so it looked wider then normal when just playing the .mov file.
    It looked good in the FCP timeline, but when I encoded this version it still looked bad.

    Yes, the clip is in sync in every format I export from FCP. The sync is lost when I convert to FLV
