[Ludmil Kazakov] “in most cases there are 2 cameras and external audio source..”

When you made the multiclip did you select “single camera” in the audio section of the “make multiclip” dialogue? I’m guessing you did. While this selection is the best for double system audio it is also the one that has the most problems with waveforms. Have you right clicked on the bad ausio files to see if “multicam” is “enabled.”

My next question is about the audio source – is it .wav or .aif. If it’s .wav, that might be the problem and the solution might be to translate it to .aif with something like Audition.

The other problem may simply be a corrupted sequence, in which case you need to clear your CC cache and re-create all your waveforms. This has happened to me on more than one occasion.

Multiclip waveforms can be problematic, especially if your using the “camera one” choice for audio when creating the multiclips. My first suggestion is to right click on the audio and make sure “multicam” is “enabled” for the clip. Sometimes this gets disabled and then the waveform disappears. Try that and post your results.

March 31, 2016 at 11:54 am in reply to: Fix changing/variable lighting for entire video

[Chris Wright] “if you enable the text layer and scroll Gamma Clamp at gamma*10 so that the text box reads 25, it will
fix timelapse, old movie’s flicker etc.”

The op isn’t posting about timelapse flicker, he’s talking about real time lighting shifts caused by passing clouds where the shifts occur smoothly over many seconds. This has nothing to do with “flicker.”

  • [Mark Suszko] ” I can’t imagine how a freelancer under these kind of market conditions can operate WITHOUT a cushion in place, in advance.”

Be married to someone with a steady income that can make your nut, and then the roller coaster ride of a freelancer’s life can be sustained. Find a partner happy to always vacation in off-season, to never make reservations for anything, and who does not have any bi-polar issues. Or follow my mother’s advice and be sure to marry rich. Unfortunately I never listened to mom.

[Jeremy Garchow] ” One of my major gripes with Premiere is it’s project organization. Files seem to double and triple in the browser for no reason, especially when you start adding versions of timelines via XML.”

    Too true.

[Jeremy Garchow] “This is a joke, right?”

I didn’t mean it as a joke. The design of FCPX is such that many key elements are pay as you need third party plug-ins – I’m not saying that this is bad in any way, it seems to work fine and the whole editing ecosystem around X seems very healthy and is one of it’s positive virtues, at least in my eyes. I’m just surprised that an X editor is now claiming that a third party plug-in is such a dangerous concept. Where’s the joke?

[Scott Witthaus] “having that software running inside my edit software seems like a SNAFU in the making. You Premiere folks have fun! ;-)”

For someone committed to using an NLE that is predicated on outsourcing as many features as possible to third party plug-ins, that seems like a strange sentiment.

[Walter Soyka] ” Check out the trailer:”

I did and I don’t understand anything more than I did before I checked out the trailer. While it may change everything at the moment it told me nothing. Can you point me to some words that might explain this concept to the icon impaired?

  • [Jon Melot] ” I miss-typed.. it’s connected by thunderbolt.”

If your raid is thunderbolt connected then you should be fine for most multicam setups. According to your original post you had 4 DSLR cameras at 1080 but you shot multiple takes – are you trying to create a multicam with 4 angles or 20 angles? If your dealing with MP4 or any long GOP codec you’ll have problems with 20 angles and should consider transcoding to something like ProRes Proxy and then re-linking. As long as the file names are the same then re-linking is a breeze.
