I should also mention that in preferences I unchecked the box for “allow pulldown removal when opening 24p DV” because I read somewhere about the importance of doing that; in my render settings I chose mpeg-2, with HDV 1080i60, in custom settings, bumped quality all the way up. I didn’t mess with the PAR in the custom render dialogue, left it at 16:9.
And I should mention that I am totally confused about if I’m supposed to do pulldown in my render from 23.97 to 29.97, or how to do it if I need to in this program, and generally the entire topic of pulldown altogether. I’m a right noob.

Ok, thanks! So I should change it to 29.97 fps when I render then? And one more question: My boss wants me to do the project settings in the original size of the video (1920×1080 24p). Should I keep the high project settings or set the project to match my final output (720×480)?

Ah, track motion, never even thought of it! Well, I was able to get it working finally with pan/crop. Problem was that if you change ‘stretch to fit screen’ in pan/crop to “no”, it keeps it flipped right side up. If you change it to “yes”, it works, but then you cannot pan or crop (which was crucial in my design)! Next time I’ll do track motion instead. Thank you!

Thank you for help, and although I would love to have all the latest features we cannot afford to upgrade. I was hoping that someone might have some knowledge about if I could change dimensions or if I was limited to presets. Anyone out there still using Vegas 8?

I would have if I could. I’m still on Vegas 8 and there’s no option for 1280×720. Is there a way for me to enter dimensions manually? All I’ve seen in the custom boxes is more presets.

Thank you for your help. Yes, I made sure before I posted that my .mov was sized to its actual size in the timeline and not the project’s dimensions, then I made sure the dimensions of the project matched the .movs (as much as possible), and I also was careful to keep my preview window set to Best quality. What I didn’t do, however was to make sure the project preview was set to Best(Full) as in screen. That fixed it. Thank you!

Ok, I figured out how to go into custom options to make it render as .mp4 and not .avc and frame rate of 24frames/sec. Only problem is I’m getting slightly jumpy playback on my computer. I’m assuming it’ll be worse on the internet? Also, I still had no option for 720p. Only 1920×1080, 1440×1080, or 720×480 (or smaller). Or am I just retarded and one of those options is 720p (thought 720p was 1280×720?).

Thank you for your help! The only thing is that I have set up a flash file to play this video. Vegas only offered 1440×1080 or 1920×1080 50i as its choices, and my 24p video is for internet playback only. I would really like to use flash, as it allowed me to build a video player for my webpage. Is there something else you recommend? Or can I convert a .avc file somehow to an .f4v?
