I figured it should, but my ‘guy’ at big vendor company said no. Guess I gotta go seem it in person.

We’re looking to move from DigiBeta to HD… finally. Boss is not tech savvy, so we need it all to work without computers till after he has screened in his office or home and made a paper edit. We also need to easily archive & integrate updates to old DigiBeta masters that are already closed captioned.

Will need to upgrade old dual 2.0 G5 system… so adds to the budget concerns.

Too tired now – will write this up and post in sep. message on other pasture tomorrow for general herd cud chewing… ouch to much cow metaphor…

Also will have to wait for NAB.

Thanks Noah – I’m sure you’ll see my post tomorrow and will have some good thoughts as always.

I used the Z1 a BUNCH – and that was pretty darn good. I would have to guess that the Z5 is even better, and that its is better than the JVC. Also the JVC is TINY – which is both good and bad… there is something to be said for a camera that has some heft.

If I had to buy one now – I’d go Z5…

The 700 has CCD not CMOS – could be an issue to some. there are some rez charts on another site.

The bigger shoulder mount version has 1/3 prog chips, and a removable lens by Canon, uses the XDCAM 35compression to either SxS or cheaper SD cards…

Really looks nice and small. I hope the low light & image is good – if so really seams like the perfect 1 man band / must travel in dangerous / private / unassuming / micro set-up sorta camera….

Hard to imagine only 30 years ago shooting with an Eclair 16mm.
