Ki-Pro support got me on the right track with specific settings. Should I post them here? I couldn’t find the answer on a search.
Now I’m working on trying to get it to work on my iPhone…

Final Cut Studio. Yes, I was trying all things, including putting into a new sequence for export. I was trying to export to ProRes from DVCProHD. Found that if I exported as “current settings” meaning DVCProHD then transcoded in Compressor it works ok, but not straight out of a timeline with the section selected; it never exports the whole clip! Have a workaround now, still curious though.
BTW, I have somewhat of a potpourri (my own doing) of Codecs in the timeline, thus am going to Color in several steps. -
Thanks for your notes Craig. Yes we plan to shoot with the Phantom HD,
possibly the RED or F35, as we’re blessed with enough backing to do it.The EX3 looks like a good camera for “all round use everyday.” I got a HVX200 a couple of years ago because I liked the tapeless workflow and the ability to shoot different codecs. And the fact it didn’t shoot mpeg.
I’m thinking that today, I would buy the EX3 instead for best quality in a smaller format camera. And I am recommending it to clients when they want something for themselves. Do you concur?

Perfect, just what I needed to hear. I have a client that wants to
purchase an EX3. We usually shoot on film, 35mm at 300fps. He wants
to be able to use the EX3 as a grab and go camera and be able to do
slow motion. “Progressive” in film of course is perfectly smooth. But
we were wondering if the way slow motion was arrived at in the EX3 was an extrapolation
of some sort. So it is discreet frames? Sounds like you are perfectly happy with the smoothness of
slow motion with the EX3. The slowest is 60fps, right? The EX1 was an mpeg codec, but I believe the
EX3 is not. Am I asking the right questions? Thanks!

OK thanks guys. What I want is probably not what is possible. I must keep several projects open to access all the materials. Or should I make
one big project with every thing in every bin in it? Shane mentioned that keeping projects open slows down things with auto save. But nesting bins sounds like the way to go. Right? -

January 14, 2009 at 12:29 am in reply to: Getting organized In Final Cut Pro by Shane RossShane, I have your “Getting Organized…” and am trying to figure out
how you nest bins in bins but for some reason can’t seem to get it.
I have several project files that are all one big project, a feature
documentary that started out a few years ago as a much smaller film, actually not a film just gathering footage. So I have all this stuff
that I kind of need sort of open all the time and I am trying to duplicate what I see on your screen grab, i.e., bins that are open and hold other open bins. Help?! -
OK an update. The SDI HD connection is now working. I upgraded the new software and firmware from Declink that just came out. Maybe that did it.
-
OK. Compression matches (I’ve been editing on this for a year without
rendering timeline) but I was trying to play through the SDI HD connector in the BT-LH80WP, so I went to RGB it plays fine 720p 59.94. Then of course I had to have the right settings chosen in the video output in FCP. (Got a new machine for Christmas, with a new Decklink card and it takes a bit to get everything up and running.) -
No, it’s a picture only monitor. Component.

Thanks Barry. I’ll check out Raylight.
Is this forum the best place to make noise, i.e., request mxf support, about adding more usefulness into FCP? Are you or other people here being listened to by Apple?
