I shot some Discovery channel stuff on the VariCam even though they’re a 1080i company. Granted the footage was up-rezzed to 1080, but still, Discovery is pretty anal.

Haven’t heard anything on the NatGeo front though.

PS – I actually can’t wait to do another Discovery channel shoot, and when they bitch that I’m doing 720p from a VariCam; I’ll say: “Oh, you wanted 1080? I’m sorry, no problem at all” as I reach down and pull out my tiny HVX200. 🙂

Email them and bitch about it. Most magazines list editorial contact information in the magazine or on their website. Not contacting them essentially lets them get away with providing false information.

The “14-bit DSP that’s internally 19-bit” is actually a 19-bit A/D convertor feeding the 14-bit DSP. In otherwords the data path from the CCD’s to the DSP chip is 19-bit, once it hits the DSP it becomes 14-bit where all the signal processing is applied.

I believe. It’s hard to decipher the translation.
