DVD,DVD,DVD. You can better present your stuff, on computers, on tv’s. More options. Have full length projects on it if they are keen to see abit more, as well as have a short clip reel.
No choice really. As a newish director, from editing/gfx background. I will take more notice of a well presented DVD.
That said, don’t just burn a dvd and write showreel on it with a marker. You have the oportunity to present in a coherent funky way. Don’t let that opportunity go. With IDVD it could not be more simple. Its not just about the projects you have on it. Treat your DVD reel as a project unto itself. That shows your approach, style, and ability to meet your objective to the end. Make yourself the client. Its much more an insight into what your about, for you and others! 🙂
    GOOD LUCK!
    Seamus.
Sorry not from your area tho, I’m in Sydney, Australia.

    Thanks for reply,
I finally got to the bottom of it. A dodgy power lead!!!! Couldn’t believe it. The one thing I hadn’t changed. I figured if it turns on, it turns on. But swapping over the lead helped. Weird isn’t it? It was still getting power as far as I understand (the blue light was on) but it was the dodgy link in the chain.
Anyway, thanks for your help. Is it me, or do people have more problems with these drives than other hardware. I’ve had drives completely die on me before, there seems to be a number of posts about these things too,

    thanks for your reply.
I’ll do that, didn’t know you should run utilities while booting off the start up disk, so thats my first thing to do. I’m not connected to any networks but I am on the net. I’ll have a look under the hood and see whats what.
Does a start up time of 5-6min seem excessive to you?

thanks for your response. Unfortunately nothing has changed. still flashing. What will happen if I hold down the blue button? I’m going carefully here as I’m not on my own gear.
As far as I’m aware, firewire is plug and go and there is no off on like switch. So when I shut down the computer, I pulled the power from the drive and replugged it in before restart. Was that right?

    Thanks for the help.
