    Thanks Oliver!

Are any of your machines running High Sierra?

    Thanks for the response,
My concern was whether a previous OS would successfuly operate the new iMac (purchased two months ago).

I’ve tried installing older OS on macbook pro’s and had difficulty. Is the iMac more forgiving?

    tnx

We just obtained a new iMac with pre-installed OS 10.13.4. and purchased Resolve Studio 15.
Resolve is crashing constantly. (i.e. more than 20 times a day).
I am the DP, and just returned from out of town to discover all this, and trying to help the new editor.
    1. Is it possible to install a previously “proven” OS on this new iMac?
    2. What “preferences” should be checked?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks Craig.

I’m actually in Europe investigating issues for my editor in India who just moved from PC/Windows world to a new iMacpro and High Sierra. I couldn’t figure out why he had a problem, but I’m on El Capitan 10.11.6 and all good.

thanks again for responding….. I’m clueless here about High Sierra.

    Thanks, Bob.
With the operating SSD (Sierra OS) , will there be any issues reloading the SSD after a crash from the Bootable external HDD that is formatted OS extended (journaled) GUID partition map? (assume I am using Carbon Copy Cloner, for example…. although haven’t settled on backup utility… any recommendations?).

    Neil,

For my edification, how should the drives be formatted for OS (current system is Sierra) use?

and why did you inquire about the GUID aspect?

Also…. a client asked us to use his 10TB drives. as archiving drives.
What is considered correct format for these drives and archiving purposes?

    tnx,

    Shane, et. al.,

Divergent says EditReady2 doesn’t code: DAT, AVI, or MP2.

Do you know what would code those to ProRess 422(HQ)?

    tnx,
    Hal

We are installing an editing studio with a new iMacPro and BMD Resolve. The doc we are editing is a basket of archival (digitized vhs), xdcam, Mts, dat, mp2, m2ts, Avi.

Which transcoders would you be considering?

    thanks,
    Hal

  • [Ann Bens] “If they wanted 50 fps the camera should have been set to 50p (progressive)”

    The client requires 1920×1080 50i. NOT 50p.
And yes, you are absolutely correct that the EX1r does not record at 50p 1920×1080.

    Since you are Adobe professional:
During playback of the camera files “shot at 1920×1080 50i” I noticed drop-outs on both my 23-inch apple cinema display and the 2016 Macbookpro 15 retina, (2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 16gb ram, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB, powering through a StarTech T2 breakout box to the display). Both monitors in MBP retina and the Cinema display monitor show the dropouts. I tried to identify the frames where the dropouts occur by going frame by frame in the area of concern, but could not find the error.
?Does this mean it’s a playback issue?
I never had dropouts with 25p….
Thanks in advance for your reply

  • [Jody Bruchon] “If you want 50 frames per second, you’ll have to first use a tool like VirtualDub to deinterlace with frame rate doubling to 50p”

Did you intend to say 50p or 50i?
Perhaps I misunderstand your instructions. Does the Vdub double the frames so the end result is 50p???
The Director wants all cams at 50i 1920×1080. So by using Virtual Dub I will be able to import 50i 1920×1080 into Premier Pro properly? (Actually, he is editing with Sony Vegas. I always check my cam files in Premier Pro CC17 before delivering to the client. )

    Thanks for your response.
