the new comp is probaly in low resolution
change it in full View > Resolution > Full (or Ctrl+J)

it’s seem to be a field problem
do you render your comp whtih the right field preference?
do you work in PAl or NTSC?

AE work by default at 29.97fps you can change it File > Poject settings
be shure your comp and render is in the good format to.

If you want to changer the color of the jersey why don’t you use the change color…?
Effect > Image Control > Change Color

select the layer at the time where you want to put a marker

Menu > Layer > Add Marker

double clik the marker to add text
