For anyone who’s into this, I can tell the Decklink HD Extreme 2 won’t output RGB HDMI.

I see the signal on the Dreamcolor, but the colors are weird a expected when seing Y=G U=R V=B

Is there any Blackmagic card outputting RGB HDMI?
I’m thinking buying the Ultrastudio 3D. 4 PCI slots in the macpro is really too few… Will the HDMI work or I still need an HDLink Pro to convert YUV to RGB?

Plese beware the Intensity won’t output Progressive, hence your Dreamcolor’s Colorspace controls will be disabled.

That’s the problem I’m facing with my Decklink HD Extreme 2, it outputs 1080psf25, not real progressive…

Thanks Dave, I downloaded the trial and will consider its purchase.
I’ll tell you how it goes because the I tried CC particle world and the kind of particles it uses doesn’t convince me much, no sprites to reproduce proper steam, there’s some lack of daemons and such…
But I’ll still give it a try, thanks so much Ted. The tutorial was a good hint!

8.0 drivers might well fix this!

You can solve it color grading in Color.
FCP reads the 5D files as RGB, while Color does correctly interpret the full range from as YUV

I’ve been asked a pretty similar thing:
I wouldn’t really wonder what the procedure is in AEX but how you are going to set the playback, this is what is going to determine how you must work the composition. Tomorrow I’ll be browsing the different options, i worked with CF readers some years ago but for such a vast array (i have to cover 68 meters) I’d rather think of computers…
I’ll let you know if any news.

    Thanks guys…

[Matt Doe] “I would make a note in the report that the audio peaks were low and should be looked at.”

Does it mean it would be corrected?

It’s “just” about increasing its volume +6dB…

If the tape was rejected it’d be a real mess!

So you think the content will be aired at a lower level than the rest of the programs?
Because I am not over the volume (not exceeding -10dB) but way under it – then the tape wouldn’t be rejected but either displayed propperly… The confusion came since the bars at the tape were at -18dB so we mistook it for the peak level…
Please let me know it you think it won’t be aired propperly, i should call the broadcasters but i tell you it’d be a mess…

IMHO I guess the best place to test the Results is not only as a viewer in a broadcast monitor but in Shake or an alike where synthetic methods of comparing similar pitures can be done. Usually it would be substracting one image from the other and multiplying the result *50 to scale the difference…
On the naked eye some differences just can-t be told and most of the Color-grading monitors still exhibit some ghosting, so I wouldn-t just stuck to it (my thought)

  • I’m having the same problem with an AJ-1200A to FCP 6.01…
And sorry to say but the Manual is completelly useless.
Quite often i was getting E-09 errors, referred as “Servo malfunction”… The only thing that happened is this VTR is pretty dumb and you have to tell him exactly what format is the tape.
Isn’t there a way for the VTR to automatically know whether it is 720p25 or 1080 at 59,94? -not in the 1200A
You have to make sure what you are feeding it with.
Even then i can also only capture thru SDI: firewire has proven useless so far.
