I meant: “Can we do that in after effects?”

First, thank you for the help. Second, you are right about the fact that the light “is” animated… but not at this time of the timeline. Also, I have the same problem with the two other on the side. You don’t see the problem because the polygones are hiding the space beetween the light and the polygone object. And those lights don’t have any keyframe.

The problem is probably coming from the fact that the light is a child of the polygone object. I really can’t see…

    Thanks again!

Like I said, there is no keyframe for the light. So I don’t understand. The only thing I found to “correct” the problem was to extand polygone object over the gap. I also tried with a completly new parallel spot. And the same problem appears.

  • You could try the new shape tool (mask tool). Don’t fill your path, use only the stroke. Once you have your desired shape, go to “Add” submenu and click on “trim path”. Like the 3d stroke, you can now animate the start, end and offset of the stroke!

P.S.: you don’t need a layer to add a path anymore(if you do, you shape will become a mask, like in AE7). Just click on a shape or use the shape tool (G) and a layer “shape” will create itself.

Yes of course I have photoshop CS3 extendend. But I think I have to export my c4d object into a 3D studio Max file so I can open it in Photoshop.

If you see someone from Montreal, say hi to them from me. It’s pretty easy to identify them (if they come to your booth), they have a pretty big french canadian accent. 🙂 Have fun.

April 4, 2007 at 6:32 am in reply to: AE 7 Mac…..no dynamic preview

First, if you have an Intel Mac, After Effect will be slower than it should be (it’s not “universal”).

Second, you have different choices for your preview: Wireframe, Adaptive resolution, Open GL-interactive, Open GL always on. To chose one of these click on the icon at the bottom of your preview window (composition window). To use Open GL, you need a video card with Open GL. To check if you have one of these card, go into you preferences under “preview” option and click on Open GL info. You can also set your adaptive resolution limit.

And last, the more you add effects, layers, etc, the more your computer and after effects will have difficulties to be “real time scrubbing”

    I hope it can help.
