I think you know the answer.
Somwhere along the line I went from the young eager editor who was not taken seriously and way underpaid to the overpaid vet who noone listens to because he’s a middle aged white guy. Can ya relate?
Bottom line is you’ll have to produce turn key videos because any post house will sooner pay 3 of your sons who have no lives or opinions before antying up for your salary. Yes, there is something to be said for experience but that’s what you’ll bring to the table by offering your onw clients finished videos. Post houses seek MTV watchin, doob smokin’ youngans they can work 70 hours a week at an annual salary you and I make in a month. Seek not employment… go grab some gigs.

You’ll just cut in black holes… in between sentences/points.
Next time give more variation between the two cameras and you’ll have no fight.

You’ll like the speed ramp effect in MC.

  • My advice is to know what you are worth before pitching. Recklessness can get ya blackballed. Be careful.

I have a scortching case of ADD so boredom just aint an issue for me. I’m use to not paying attention. Down time just lets me do it without making anybody mad.

It has a lot of bang for the buck. Not the best in the world but then, quite affordable for all. I like a lot of things about it. I think you’d dig it.

I like vimeo. I can password protect it so it’s private and the quality is always good.

  • 1. Yes. Most content comes from production companies.
    2. Absolutely.
    3. Law firms don’t do this. Agents do.

It would do you well to hit some pitch fest events. NATPE, LATVFestival, ect… this is what these are for. You’ll get to pitch your show to at least 3 people in person… more of you are agressive. You will learn a lot and it will be well worth your entry fee. They have workshops to get ya ready before you pitch but don’t go without a one sheet and a sizzle reel. If interested they’ll ask you for a bible… a more in depth treatment of the show. Know that most networks are very comfy with production companies they are already in bed with. They at least want a production company with aproven track record delivering original programming. This does not mean it’s impossible to be heard. It just puts two strikes against you when you step up to the plate. Do try to get an agent sold on it. This will be your ace in the hole and you’ll find many agancies that specialize in this with a quick search. They too are hard nuts to crack… the good ones anyway. They only accept solicited pitches, ironically. Again, this doesn’t make anything impossible. I see it as a test of tenacity.
All that said, brother, protect your project before putting it in front of anybody. I’ve had more than one hit show that I never got a check for.

  • What you master to has to do with your delivery needs. I’d not listen to babble of dudes who don’t know what they are talking about regarding tape being dead since ’05. Folks will always milk old gear until it croaks. Why? Cuz it was freakin’ expensive, man.

Again, experience will give this answer, as well as the other knowledge you’ll require to succeed.
