All i want to do is to take the native HDV timeline and output it to BETA SP for broadcast.

i am a professional and please help with our dilemma. Please correct me if i am incorrect as well and yes, be harsh. We love the constructive (but true) criticism. We are going to purchase an XL H1, KONA LHe to add to our umcompressed system (G5 Quad Core, AJA i/0, DSR 1500A with SDI, BETA SP Deck). Our plans are to shoot in the HDV with the XL H1, ingest via HD SDI to the DVCProHD Codec and edit. Then we want to output to BETA SP for broadcast commercials. I know that the audio from the XL H1 is not embedded, therefore we would like to know what to do. These commercials are for cable and the local networks. Also we are adding the Redrock Micro 35 adapter as well. -

I understand the opinions of everyone regarding this drive. i just so happened to meet the guy in the APPLE store and he showed me his product because i was talking to on the MAC geniuses about my XSERVE RAID, and he showed me his drive. I told him that i could get him some immediate exposure by posting it on the COW, and i wanted some honest feedback from the group.

He’s ahead of the game and believe it not i am standing here with him the APPLE Store in the Wellington Green Mall (West Palm Beach, FL), and he has assured me that he is ready for the design change. Now hopefully APPLE doesn’t COMPLETELY change the inside where there is no way that it can happen. Anyway, i’m excited for the gentleman!

I really wish i had an answer for you other than i have previously spent several days on the phone with APPLE trying to get this matter resolved, but i still have the same problem. I have installed the computer back to factory settings and that still doesn’t do the trick. FINALLY, APPLE told me that i would now have to pay for support, which is $99 per call, or $1,000 per year. You think i want to do this and look at where i am currently. The only workaround that i have is to use DVDSP background encoding, which works fine for me, but since i have COMPRESSOR, i figure that i must use it. Sorry, but i can’t use it. I have tried all of the workarounds, and that still doesn’t work. If you have an answer please let me know. Good luck and APPLE should just say, “NOW I PUNISH YOU LIKE YOU PUNISH BUD LIGHT!”

Should i uninstall everything related to Compressor? By the way, a lot of the settings in Compressor are missing. For example if i go to my Dual G4 1 GHz, or G4 Dual 1.25 GHz all of the settings are there such as all of the settings for MPEG2. However, on my several month old G5 Dual 2.7 GHz, a lot of those settings are not there. Remember i did a fresh install of the operating system to restore it back to factory settings. I am going to try another factory install and see what happens. I am also going to install the FCP 4 first and see if i am able to get all of my old settings back.
