Since updating FCP5 to 5.0.9 yesterday compressor will not connect to background processing.
Anyone know of any workarounds for this please.
Keep getting error, Compressor cannot connect to batch processor. Help!!

I really wish i had an answer for you other than i have previously spent several days on the phone with APPLE trying to get this matter resolved, but i still have the same problem. I have installed the computer back to factory settings and that still doesn’t do the trick. FINALLY, APPLE told me that i would now have to pay for support, which is $99 per call, or $1,000 per year. You think i want to do this and look at where i am currently. The only workaround that i have is to use DVDSP background encoding, which works fine for me, but since i have COMPRESSOR, i figure that i must use it. Sorry, but i can’t use it. I have tried all of the workarounds, and that still doesn’t work. If you have an answer please let me know. Good luck and APPLE should just say, “NOW I PUNISH YOU LIKE YOU PUNISH BUD LIGHT!”

    Hi Gregory,
    Got it sorted.
Trashed the compressor preferences file found in /Documents/library/preferences/comapplecompressor.plis
Emptied the trash. Did a little dance. Turned the G5 off for 1/2 hour restarted then bingo.
Hope you have the same luck.

are you sure that is the correct step? Seems you are missing something or not in the correct order. Please advise as i am attempting this right now.

Sorry Gregory got the folder location wrong.

    Mac HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.compressor.plist

Delete the .plist file and empty the trash

    turn off for 1/2 hr.

    Bingo

    Good Luck

Hi. I am having the same problem as you guys, I tried looking for the
    Mac HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.compressor.plist
but there isn’t one in that location, there is
    com.apple.RegFinalCutStudio.plist, in that location…should I erase that?
    Any ideas?

    thanks Jeremy

Not sure Jeremy? Try bouncing it to a different disc first without deleting it, if FCP doesn’t open then replace it.

Also try opening compressor before fcp if you know you are to do some encoding.

    Good Luck

thanks for getting back to me. That didn’t seem to make a difference, even after I trashed it. Do you know how to disable the the systems disc utilities? Or to check to see if you have 3rd party anti-virus sofware ( I should probably know this.) I found this page on apples support line…
    https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93234
    Thanks again Jeremy
