you almost have it. If you just put a 2k clip into a HD sequence Premiere simply puts the clip in full size. It may seem like it’s cropping it but it’s not. you’re just seeing the portion that fits in that HD sizing.

If you scale down that clip you’ll see the entire 2k shot. SO, that’s why you need to control click on the 2k clip in the sequence and select “set to frame size’ so that you see the entire clip in your sequence AND so that if you want to resize that 2k clip you can scale it without losing any quality.

If you control click the 2k clip in the sequence, select “set to frame size.” That sizes it to fit the 1920×1080 frame. Then in your effect control settings you can change the sizing of the clip without any loss of quality.

It’s not really an issue at all. Your Premiere sequence can be a mix and match of sizes.

If you’re creating an HD sequence you can just scale down the 2k footage to fit the frame.

Your PC is plenty fast to edit smoothly with 4k. However, you don’t have enough RAM. You’ll need 32 gigs as a minimum and you need a fast drive for the media. Have you done a speed test on your 1tb ssd to make sure the thru put is fast enough for the 4k files?

If I ran into random weirdness like this I would delete Premiere completely from my system. And I’d make sure I also deleted all preference files and user settings. Naturally I’d back those settings up to Adobe cloud first.

That may have been a localized problem. I’ve worked on multiple projects that have involved over 5 terabytes of media and there’s been no noticeable lag. I’m also working on a PC though so maybe it’s been a mac bug.

mike, I’m not sure what you’re doing but it’s definitely not correct.

I’d recommend that you create a new multi track sequence in Premiere and make sure that your tracks are setup as standard tracks. Copy your previous sequence into the new sequence and then try to send it to Audition.

A correctly set up multi track sequence in Premiere will open up in Audition as a multi track audio sequence with each track discreet mono or stereo and that includes submixes.
