Once a project gets to the color or audio mixing stage there’s very little need for instantaneous clip call up so it’s a bit confusing as to why that’s a plus in your eyes.

Thank you for this thread. It seems amazing that a feature that has been around for so many years in Avid is still nowhere near ready for prime time in most other NLE’s. Premiere is also horribly inadequate for creating a consolidated archive.

Why is this feature so hard to duplicate in any other system?

The fact that you were able to retrieve a project five years old is great. Does that really have any relevance in most post-production environments? no. A five year old project for most is ancient, out of date and irrelevant.

The single best audio tutorial that I’ve come across is Paul Murphy’s “Adobe Audition: Mixing Music and Dialogue.” It’s on LinkedIn Learning and it covers everything you need to know to create master audio that’s normalized and mixed well.

This doesn’t sound like a Premiere problem at all. You have an underpowered laptop that needs some general maintenance.

There is one aspect of audio playback that can have problems and that’s if you have a number of track level plugins added to your tracks.

We use Izotope audio plugins and when multiple effects are added to the track mixer there can be playback issues due to the computer attempting to process each track on the fly. Sometimes it’s a matter of stuttered playback. The fix is to fully render the timeline which takes some of the CPU load off.
