The speakers are for meeting rooms, which are connected to a podium with a PC and DVD player.

I don’t see how any of that was applicable to the original question regarding choosing the right amp for the speakers.
With those particular speakers, I have the option of using an amp supporting 25V, 70V, 100V or 8 ohm, since there is an internal transformer with a switch to select the different modes.
I was looking for something light-weight which would match the speaker’s wattage on any of those modes. The amps I have found so far are either under powered or are at least several pounds in weight.

I ended up going with 12awg 100ft of this cable, which ran about $80:

I used the cables in a big event last week, and had no problems.

Both types of cable that I linked to heavy duty 12awg cable, not the cheap lamp cord type of cable (20awg).
That’s why I’m scratching my head as to the price difference.
Granted, for most event setups, I’ve only seen cables with durable black sleeves, but not cables with clear sleeves. Maybe the clear sleeves aren’t as durable?
Not sure what the oxygen free cable means either. Special corrosion prevention, or sales gimmick?

March 31, 2010 at 6:02 am in reply to: Media room – two audio sources, one sound systemok, thanks, that makes sense.
The extron switches do not have built-in amps.
The idea behind having the two projectors in the first place was having the ability to display two different sources. My concerns in this thread were for the rare case when the same source is selected for both projectors.

I’m anticipating that I will have the audio doubling problem.
If switch A’s audio output goes into an input 1 on the amplifier, and switch B’s audio output goes into input 2 on the amplifier, it seems to me that I’ll be getting both audio signals coming out from the speakers. So if both audio signals are coming from the same source (ie, both from the DVD player), it seems like I’ll get a boost due to doubling.
I’m not diminishing the signal *from* the sources…both switches are receiving full strength signals from the distribution amplifiers. So, I’m not sure that the power analogy quite works.

I didn’t have a problem with this about a month ago. I was able to use the export function with no trouble then.

March 18, 2008 at 10:33 pm in reply to: final cut exporting as icod rather than hdv2Nope. That was the first thing I checked. These are being exported as self-containted.
One thing I did notice was that the sequence presents only displayed 3 HDV options, all of which had “apple intermediate codec” in the label.
On the other mac, presets for plain ol’ HDV 1080i were present.
Did these presets somehow get deleted? If so, where could I get them from? I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
