How can I capture HD video with final cut express HD 3.5 WITHOUT having to use the “HDV-apple intermediate codec 1080i60” listed in “easy setup”?

I have problems with other computers and applications reading the exported file from a project when I do a “file > export > quicktime movie” for a project with HDV-apple intermediate codec selected.

Files exported in this manner do not display video. The exported file is self-contained, so that’s not the issue.

On a separate workstation where I have Final Cut Pro, it has “DVCPRO HD 1080i60” and “HDV -1080i60” listed instead of the “apple intermediate codec” one.

Is there a way to have those listed in final cut express, instead of the “apple intermediate codec” one I can’t seem to do anything with?

No, there isn’t. Any computer with Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express should be able to read these files. Or you can export o a different format.

    All the best,

I didn’t have a problem with this about a month ago. I was able to use the export function with no trouble then.
