    So since apples showed it’s hand on where it’s going, is it that bad to “jump ship” and go with avid? I do wanna make a living video editing and make more than 12/hourly.(witch is what I’ll be making if I stay with Fcp)

    I purchased it and at glance nothing seems new in compressor 5. I don’t even think it’s 64 bit. I uninstalled compressor 4. And in Fcp 7 tried the send to compressor option but it was greyed out. I think you have to export QuickTime movie and drop it in compressor 5.

    @Matthew Celia

    Come on man…I worked really Hard to get where I am today and I STILL work very hard,for very very little. I have People Who love my work and want to hire me…..for free. I have trouble getting my Hour Rate of $25.00/hourly. I really think(THINK MIND YOU IM NOT SAYING THEY DONT) that Seasoned Vets have no clue the state of entry level editing in 2009-2011. I know allot and I’m skilled but I have no people willing to give a chance. Thats not fair to call me a non skilled editor. Today at work I had to explain to our 95.00/hour editor how a FTP works, and I had to install Plug ins for her she (didnt know how). In hollywood I guess you fail upwards.

    Thats Audio Though. and the Choices for Audio Tools are somewhat Limited, PRO TOOLS is the dominate Program and its by no means easy to learn. However FCP X is.

    Thanks for the info. I’ve just never seen H.264 be a Legit codec to cut Creatively on, I mean you can layback h.264 I’m sure but what quality would you get?

    ya but h.264 is what Mom and dad cut in cause they fail to understand the workflow for what ever camera there shooting on. JUST DRAG AND DROP. I guess editing is that easy. having Native H.264 is great but what post in the western world would cut creatively or Color grade in h.264 its worthless.

    I dont think there care much for the “professional” Consumer, there targeting Moms and grandmas, I just dont understand, why? This was there chance to show the world “Hey World! See Final Cut Can be used in a professional work environment! There is a alternative to Avid!” But they didnt And Im really sad and scared that they didnt. If I ever wanna own a house One day Im gonna have to abandon Final cut and focus on Avid.
