I like you do everything as well. You kind of have to if your gonna make it in the Post world in 2011. I edit, shoot, do GFX, 3d modeling, Color Correction, Layback. IT, and many other things I wear many hats. Just yesterday I had to Install avid plug-ins and trouble shoot because our in house freelance $95.00/hour avid editor didn’t know how to do anything besides Cut pretty pictures.

as for the Telling a story part, I wish it worked like that. but it doesn’t

Producer: ” We Cut On Avid”

Me: ” But I use Final Cut?”

Producer ” We dont use final cut”

    Me: ” But I can tell a story…”

Producer: (Rolls Eyes) “Thank you for your time, there’s the door”

and with FCP X and its Very Rough Release Its lost MAJOR Respect in the Editing world already.

    Bad choice of wording….sorry

People are done using FCP X professionally and are going to something Else I think its foolish to think that Apple is going to cater to us “PROS” 6 months down the line, stuff isn’t missing, Missing implies it had gotten lost, the stuff is NOT THERE. Period. And having apple “Tac” on stuff we want isn’t going to do it for me, They Played there cards. Time for a Change.

Its funny though they were right. Everything is about the change in Post and thats the Move from FCP to Avid/Adobe.

You don’t stop making cars if 5 years later flying cars may coming out, shame apple, shame….

Oh…I’m sorry. I spent 11 years Learning and master this Software, and apple threw it away 2 days ago. I have no problem relearning stuff from scratch I was actually looking forward to it, but FCPX doesnt do half the things that FCP7 does so I cant use it and I dont think 1 year is going to change the way the program works in a professional environment. Completely gone moving forward. Am I not aloud to be nervous? Im going into Avid Cause apple isn’t interested in the Professional world anymore. But thanks for you Kind words and help. I feel much better now.

PS: FCP X has no deck control…its a joke. Sorry but its a toy not a TOOL

I’ve ask friends and Colleagues what they think

    Bloogers- LOVE IT
    YOUTUBErs -LOVE IT

    My Dad – Loves it

    My Brother – Loves it

My entire FCP Staff and friends that use it for other thing besides Video Blogging….Hate it, because they can’t use it with any of the Client Video decks.

Apples made it clear that FCP7 is dead. and I devoted my time and money into a program that they just trash after 11 years? After they got into the film industry at 65% share in post houses. After thousands of people spent money supporting FCS as there tool of trade. This is how they repay us?
If my 55 year old dad (who works in Contracting) loves it and can edit on it already. People who made a living off this are done….

I learned on Imovie and Moved up when I was pushing it to its limits in 2002. It kept crashing if the project was over 1 hour long. And I Choose to Upgrade…..FCP X isnt really giving you any Choices in the matter.

Convert or Die is apple new motto it seems

@TS O’Grady Whats your Hourly Rate? How old are you? How many RECURRING CLIENTS use you.

Its not that simple. I’m 26 and I’m still “New” to the Industry, I haven’t Made Connections or relationships yet. People call me and I tell them. “Okay my rate is ________ (based on the length and type of project).they tell me “That’s to High, Thanks for your time” And all the vets on here are claiming Im not skilled due to my Rate being 15-25/hourly. You vets need to wake up. I am very skilled and trained myself to be a master in FCS3 as well as Photoshop and After effects. But what you dont realize is that YOU have clients and YOU have a HUGE SAVINGS AND YOU Have the ability to turn down low paying work. I DON’T.
