Thanks Shane… Actually I think my AJA card should work. My system has Media 100HDe which came with the AJA OEM board. I assume it’s for HD. You metioned the Caldigit, tha’s what I have.

I’ll check out those other things you mentioned. Thanks for your advice.

I posted a question yesterday that nobody addressed. Can anyone help>

    Here’s the posting

I have a FCP system I buil in my home office where clients come in. I’ve got a G5 Quad, an aja card, and mainly edit on/to Beta SP or Mini DV. I use the aja junction box connected to my Beta SP deck.(PVW2800). I have a composite monitor hooked up to the composite out from the beta deck. This is a real pain.

What I’d like to do buy a better monitor to use, with the hope that I can loop through the monitor to the Beta SP Deck. I’m currently looking at a used Sony PVM-20M2U.

Another guy I know is using a Samsung 23″ LCD monitor. To me it looks nice, but how can you really tell what colors are correct? Also, I can loop through it.

Anyone have suggestions on a low cost monitor?

Now I also want to be able to add a DVD recorder and a MINI DV deck into my system. I imagine I need to either set up some type of routing system or patch system. What are you folks doing in this situation? On my old Media 100 system, I had a TecNec One-2 Punch that worked great! I don’t see this unit available anymore. Any suggestions on Monitor, and routing? Thanks much.

I guess the real question is how many upgrades will there be in a year, and how much will they cost? What will the universal software do for me since I bought a Quad G5 reburbished to get this software a few months ago?

I had platinum support on our M100i system for 5 years. The fees added up and I never used the support after I learned what I was doing. $1,200 per year seems high, in fact I could buy new software and hardware in 3 years time. Any other folks here have a suggestion?

We own two units that record with no menu.

First is a JVC DRM 10

The second is a Pioneer DVR 7000.

    Both are older units.

I wouldn’t use a service like this. Most of us who have been in the market for some time have already developed resumes through other resources.

I moved from Media 100 to FCP. But what I did was buy a G5 Quad refurbished from Apple. I bought Media 100 HDe and FCP. The media 100 cames with the AJA card that works with M100 and FCP. I bought a second internal hard drive, and now I have both edit systems on separate boot drives. This allows me to continue on M100 while I learn FCP. It’s the best of both worlds.

We’ve edited a 28:30 video for our church for many years. Nothing takes that long to render. Keep in mind that many lower thirds and other titles will play back fine outputting to Beta SP.

We edited on Media 100i for many years and it workd great. Now I’m editing on Media 100 Hde and FCP.

    Steven,

Actually I am enjoying the Florida “Good Life”. I live betwen Miami and Fort Lauderdale. But I need shots that will be used for a client selling a project in the Middle East. Still cheaperr to buy great shots than to shoot them.

Thanks to both you and Grinner for your advice. I’m looking for a song that would have a great orchestral theme with some loud drums to add excitement. Perhaps ending on a loud BOOM! of the drums. Any cut in particular?
