I’ve not had this myself, but I have been picking up a few new weird issues. Could this be something to do with SnapShot? I’ve just had a quick scan through the release notes for the last few releases and not spotted anything.

And have you tried clearing the image cache?

If you are happy to send me the project file, i can open it and see if i have the same issue here.

I imagine the best approach would be to render out the Cineware elements as video and build a new comp with just the video as background. Once it’s working, save as a new project and delete the cinemware elements before collecting the files.

Hi Dave,

As far as I know, there’s no way to directly manipulate multiple mask keyframes. But, of the mask isn’t changing, then the easiest approach would be to create a Null Object and parent your mask layer to it, then you can adjust the null’s position and the Mask layer will follow it.

You might also want to try the Track Mask option in the Tracker controls. That might take care of a lot of the work for you.

Have you tried cutting out one of the characters , saving that and then using Google Image search (where you drop the image into the search box?

Failing that, to get more diverse characters, have you consider tracking the characters in the footage and replacing their heads? Might be more work, but if you can’t find the originals. They have a look of being created in an animation tool – preset actions – it might be that there aren’t more diverse characters in the collection.

Searching for “Adobe Character Animator” shows there is an increasing number of characters available for that software. Might bail you out.

It’s slightly hard to picture what you’re trying to achieve. Can you post the project file or screenshots of the comp and timeline?

If you want to swap out the circles for Clouds, have you tried replacing the circle layers by holding ALT and dragging the cloud image onto the circle layer?

Oh wow. This is definitely a challenge. Boardwalk Empire used head tracking, photoshop and Maya to add facial scars to a character. In theory, face tracker would allow you to add lines to a face, but it will be a lot of work.

How about a practical approach instead? Take a look at this ERB2 making of video about how they aged NicePeter to look at Jacques Cousteau. Some simple lines drawn with a make up pencil:

Sometimes no matter you do, you get glitches. You can try clearing the image cache and see if that helps, but you could spend more time chasing the glitch and re-rendering than it’s worth.

Try rendering out the image sequence and if it comes to it, saving the individual frame from the comp and use that single frame to replace the glitch. This might actually reveal the problem or let you just skip past it.

I’d probably try sticking with a particle approach. Or depending on how long the shot is manually doing it as sometimes simulation takes longer to get right than just cracking on and adding them.

I’m struggling a little to picture what you’re trying to achieve. You want 3D cubes to fly down the street, but at random times. Definitely get one cube to fly down the street the way you want. Animate this using Element, then look at duplicating it. Andrew Kramer’s tutorial on Particle Shadows: https://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/particle_shadows/ uses a 2D representation of a 3D sphere to simulate loads of them bouncing down a street. I think this might get you closer you what you’re after.
