IMO, somehow you ARE getting the mic<>system<>record mixed into each other.
Keep checking and eliminating.

That’s not a piccie of the Timeline? That’s a grab of the Project Settings.
OK, where did you get the music from?
Also, that does sound like an “echo” or latency of your(?) voice. To me it sounds like you’ve edited and re-edited the music bed of a previous take of your own(?) voice. Have you used the music from a previous V/O?

September 16, 2012 at 8:32 am in reply to: Changing O.S from XP (32 bits) to Vista (64 bits)Theo, ASAP, migrate to 64bit. I understand the budgetary restraints – oh yes! – but if you want to keep editing, on a tried and tested way, use the OLD VP9 setup and just keep going. Get your finances together and plan your upgrade path and keep updating your knowledge on the NEW box. I spent at least 4 months working on the spec. and here it is:-
Windows Version: 7 64-bit
RAM: 16gb
Processor: Intel® Core™i7-2600k Quad Core 3.40GHz
Video Card: 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti – 2 DVI,HDMI,VGA – D
Sound Card: External PreSonus Audiobox
Video Capture: PanaDeck THEN onto 1394; CF Card Reader
CD Burner: see below
DVD Burner: 12x BLU-RAY RE-WRITER DRIVE, 16x DVD ±R/±RW
Camera: Canon: XF300 (HD) & XM2 (SD)Graphics Card Driver:- Installed : 11 Aug 2012 | Ver : 8.17.13.142 | Date : 15 May 2012
The real guts of this is that nVidia card which plays nicely with the Intel i7 2600k
So, you’ve got much work to do in researching and planning your pathway.
It’s time for a clean sweep. Be assured that as the plugs are going 64bit, there has to be a reason why.
Get to Win7 as fast as your finances can support and as planned as you can – anything else will only give you more grief.

September 15, 2012 at 6:43 am in reply to: Changing O.S from XP (32 bits) to Vista (64 bits)My latest PC was my first leap into 64bit, and that was Win7. I read all the stuff about Vista and held on until something better came along.
From what I had read on the SONY site; asked questions on forums and worked closely with my PC Builder, I now have a PC that is optimised for what Sony wants in a pc for Vegas. Consequently “bugs” I come across I’m more than convinced it is a “code” issue rather than my hardware or OS.

Ah, yes. That’s the same/similar to getting a Border Fx to appear around a Pan/Crop control, move it down the Chain.
I can understand why, you do something and THEN you want “else” applied.
I was suggesting the Feather as what I saw in your first examples didn’t indicate you had used it.
Glad you got JR to come in here. He does know Vegas awfully well.

I see what you’ve got. You need to add some Feathering to the Mask’s Path. Click on one if the Key Frame Diamonds and select Feather and both and add an amount till that line blends in. You should be good to go.

Do you know what Steve? We’ll look back at this time and recognise that from VP11>VP12 has seen SCS throw open the doors to 3rd Party developers for FXing and a truly creative and exciting leap forward for Vegas. I know that with the scripting companies we’ve had the advantages of User friendly Utilities, but now the accelerator has been gunned to gives all an inside view as to what is going to be a remarkable leap to be made by the designers at SCS. One major part of this has been its vociferous User base demanding more. Proof positive that SCS has responded is the last 18 months of development bringing us the plethora of truly creative and organic plugs emerging. Personally, Sapphire Edge and Monsters has been truly satisfying and worthy of much use. Added to which the Particle Illusion direct plug to the Event is magic.
There are good times ahead for Vegas, but they’ve already arrived.

[carmen emarda] “My question is which format I should set for the sub project file.
I edit by setting my Project to reflect the majority of my footage – period.
[carmen emarda] Should it be the same for the final encoding format or it does not matter?”
Again, I set my project to reflect the format of my footage and THEN when finished editing I get Vegas to encode.
To add some thought to your added comment, “…or does not matter” well, it does. If you consider if Vegas, while you are editing is needing to continually reformat your footage to allow you to “view” your edits, according to what you’ve set your Project Settings at, this could choke Vegas and you’d get less than an ideal editing experience. It would be slowed down.
I keep my Vegas editing workflow very simple. I set my Project, or nested projects to match my original footage. I’ve extended this over the years to making sure I have bought or borrow cameras that WILL produce a more Vegas-friendly editing format experience. In the event I really can’t do anything about it, I will pre-render any “difficult” or non-project compliant footage to the main project. Yes I realise/know that is blasphemous, Vegas being format agnostic and and all, but even so, why should I need to hobble Vegas with giving it more work than needs be, when what I want to do is get creative with that footage? Makes sense? Look, there are few occasions when Vegas can cope with anything that is thrown at. Many years ago I demoed Vegas at a branch of the BBC just to show how EASY it was to mix ‘n match footage. Yes they were blown away. But I don’t need to do that exercise on a daily basis. Likewise for yourself, just ‘cos Vegas CAN do something extraordinary, why pursue this when you really don’t need too?
Good question.
