This is interesting. I just shot a corporate event using an HPX300 and an HPX250. We shot in AVC-50 at 30p as well. We did this to save drive space, and since the video wasn’t going to be broadcast, we didn’t need full resolution. The video project went very well.

I recommend the HPX250. It will match the HPX370 better than the Sony EX3. The Panasonics share the same sensor set and codec.

    Jan,
Can you give any info on the CMOS chip? Since it’s a single chip camera, the imager has to have a Bayer filter to give the images color.
But a native 1920×1080 chip will lose some performance bacause of the filter, correct? It won’t output a true 1920×1080 image, or its color rendering will suffer, from what I understand.

Canon solved this issue in the C300 by making the chip 4K in size (or something like that).
I’ve been to demos of the HPX600 but no one knew the answer to this question. The CMOS chip is a mystery.

The reviewer gave the camera a “SOLID” rating. How’d you get a bad rating out of that? He had a few nitpicks, but all cameras have a few faults. Plus, his was an early production camera.
He said it had nice images, balanced well, lightweight and the wifi was useful. Overall, it was positive.

I had the same thing happen to mine. During a pan, the image would jump just a touch. I’ll try and turn OIS off as well.

There also was a pic of the new 700 on the dvinfo.net website, and a link to the Australian JVC website showing the pic. Both have been removed. Hmmm….
Makes me wonder if it was a pic of a prototype that shouldn’t have been released to the public.
To those that didn’t see it, the new camera looks a lot like the 200/250 line. The body is smoother (no tape control buttons) and it had a iPod-like control device on the left side. Very interesting design.

I have a HD200 for sale. $3,500 with the 17X lens. If you’re really interested, I can send you info. It’s listed in the classified section. vanvideo@aol.com

To answer your question, I don’t know if new HD200s prices will be significantly reduced by JVC. They still gotta turn a profit on them. I don’t think they’ll abandon the tape format just yet. There’s still a market for it. Plus, with the addition of the KA-MR100G, any of the 200/250 line can record solid state SxS. That certainly extends their abilities.

I’m also selling an HD200. Look at my posting in the classifieds forum.
It has the upgraded 17X lens, an 80 GB Firestore (with camera mount), battery mounts for A/B or V-mount batteries, plus tripod plate. I’m asking $4,800, but price is definitely negotiable.
