take a look at indiestor out of the UK. Very reasonably priced alternative to an ISIS or Unity project sharing system.

Haven’t tried it, but i’ve heard good things. I think Bob Zelin’s latest NAB 2017 review mentions it.

If you still have the ama clips, plug in the drive and (hopefully) they should come back online.
If not you need to re-ama everything first.
Then re-transcode everything.
Then relink your sequence to the newly created clips.

If at some point you actually imported clips, and cut with them, then yes you can simply batch Re-import.

Either select you sequence and right click, batch re-import, or select the clips in the bin and select batch re-import.

Avid will ask you if you want to do all clips or just offline media.
it will then ask you to confirm file locations for the media you are bringing in.
If the file location has changed, you will need to select all the files, and point avid to the first file, and it should figure out the relative location of the rest of the files.
(I wish AMA did this!!!)
Obviously you need access to the original media.

This is also handy for graphics that change during the course of an edit.
right click the original graphic file, when it asks for the location, point it to the new version, and re-import.

Note re-importing doesn’t delete the old media.
If you are re-importing clips that are online, you will double up your media files, so usually best to delete any media files first if you are doing a swap out of graphics.

You “should” be using a broadcast monitor for your color decisions, which would be fed by a BM output device.

A Quadro will output your gui, and can be used for compute, but your gui display should not be your main monitoring device. Many do it, but it is not the “correct” way of working.

Just did a search for a word i put in a column called “help”, and it called up the word in the column

Did it work? I”m curious to know what you received back from protools.

Was it 1 big mxf file with the whole mix, or as many mxfs as you originally sent out, except this time they all had a mix attached to their little chunk?

Never done it this way. I would have thought you would get a pop at each edit point doing it this way.

What are you gaining by anything doing it this way?

been a while, but i’m pretty sure you can import CDLs on a clip by clip basis within the frame flex area. Same as applying a LUT.

Sounds like hell having to do multiple versions of cdls for each shot though. If i were an EA, my rate would go up 🙂

I just tried it, and couldn’t get it to work, but i did manage to link the video in a sequence to a selected auto synced clip in a bin. (it linked the video, but not the audio…audio stayed with the original audio), but this would allow you to autosync your clips, creating a new submaster with synced audio from the recorder.

Link your sequence to these clips based on name and timecode, all selected clips in open bins…(make sure all your new sync clips are selected.

Then, you have a sequence where the video comes from 1 source, and the audio from another source.
(video from the newly synced clips, audio from the original quicktime source)

Match frame each video shot in the timeline, patch the audio in, and replace edit. (If you had the proper equipment, you could even build a macro to do the entire timeline with the push of 1 button) In your case, learing some shortcut keys could probably get you through a moderate sized timeline without too much stress.

As for future custom columns, you would go to list view in your bin, right click in one of the column names and select custom column. You can then make a column named anything you like. Save that view setting, and open it up in the bin that contains your sequence. Now when doing a relink, you can select that custom column name as a source to relink via.

You have to put those new mxf files “online” … into the mxf/ folder structure.

Make a new folder called 2 in your Avid MediaFiles/mxf/ area. See if Avid can then create a database for that media.
If it does, your audio should be online.

You can then rename that “2” folder “ProjectName audio from Protools”, or leave it as 2, or move it into your 1 folder.
Depends how you organize your media.
