Same answer..I have all 4 programs om my box. They don’t really care about each other as long as they aren’t running at the same time, trying to use the extreme 3d card for output. My 4800fx has nothing plugged I to it to allow premiere and resolve the acceleration. Avid ignores it. Final cut ignores it as well. Both computer displays are fed by a 120 card.

From within the sequence they can only be deleted 1 at a time, as you sit on them.

I don’t do a ton with P2, so i had to load up some footage to make sure.

I’ve copied the entire card contents to my local drive.
Roll_01/contents/…what ever is in there
plus the “last clip” file is in the Roll_01 folder. I believe this is quite important for the system to understand the footage.

(you do have to have the p2 plug in loaded from the Avid site)
(you have to turn off the “Enable AMA Volume Management” in the Volume mounting tab, in the AMA settings tab)

Once you relaunch Avid you will no longer have the link to ama options, but import P2 as an option instead.

Click in a bin, click on Import P2 and point it to your footage which is now living on your internal drive. It will link to this footage, just like it did when it was on an external drive. You will see the drive listed as Virtual in your bin. From here edit or transcode. Again, i’ve had great success editing with this virtual footage, and then transcoded it to dnx to ship off to the online DS box. If you box struggles, then transcode it right away to MXF media.

If you want to free up your camera, you can copy the contents of your p2 card to your local drive. Make sure you copy the entire folder structure, not just the actual media.

From there import your p2 as you are currently doing. If you have performance issues, then you may need to consider transcoding the footage to Avid Media, work with that and quit using the original P2.

We’ve had great success with P2 without transcoding. Keeping it on an external drive is a pain, as I think you have to relink to it everytime you relaunch Avid. If it is on a local drive, i don’t think this issue occurs.

I’ve been on 10.73 for quite a while as well. Few AMA crashes…not sure if that is because its AMA or 10.73, but other than that i’m quite happy.

Pat i finally got a chance to try this at home with my Mac setup. Media Composer 6 with Extreme 3d card.
I am getting the same issue. Have only tried SD from a sony J3, but yes- on tape my slate hits at 01:00:45:00 but the captured footage in Avid shows it at 01:00:45:01. Have also tried capturing the same clip to FCP and Premiere, and do not see the issue there.

Anyone from Black Magic or Avid care to chime in?

Are you on a laptop? If so try pressing the FN button as well.
I’m on a mac pro and control (+) 6 is looping my playback.

There may be a keyboard setting somewhere to tell Apple to let the application functions override the built in functions, but i don’t see anything on my box, and it is working fine.

If you are not doing broadcast work that goes through a strict QC point, than the legalizers won’t be worth it for you. I started using sapphires chroma clamp years ago when we were having difficulty getting an illegal gamma error through an outside broadcasters QC process. Since then i have refined my legalizing with a combination of different filters to ensure legal without killing the look i’m going after. I’ll add that i typically only offline on the Media Composer, and do 99 percent of my onlines on a DS system, so many of the tools i use may not be available on MC in the first place. An interesting example would be using sapphires glow effect with the “Keep effect legal” button turned on. I’ve had that sent back from QC companies, and had to add secondary legal to it. Sometimes you just have to know your broadcaster, and your QC path. Unfortunately that is information that usually costs money at some point in either time and shipping for fixes plus the “oops” factor, or the purchase of other filters to fix the problem before it starts.
