Not sure your issue is the drive letter changing. I’ve always had problems with P2 footage losing its link every time I close and open the program. I’ve installed the drive with the footage into the box and still had to relink the footage each time.

Ama to your c300 shots. You may want to then transcode those to something else for the actual editing. Kinda depends on the system and amount of footage. We’ve had pretty good results with c300 editing straight from the Ama clips…not nearly as hard on the system as h264’s.
Also your transcode will depend on whether you want a low Res offline workflow, or you want to jump straight to high quality online….edit it and I’m done workflow
For the canon I would usually just do a hard import of the footage. If you have a ton of it, you may want to ama it, but if you do, you will want to transcode.
If you are working low Res you can always batch import you final ed back up to high Res at the end of the process
Two 2 copies have to be thought of as “camera originals”. And working files. Not a big deal if you lose the working files….as long as you still have your camera originals.

Specs say it only needs 1 lane pci …is it possible other devices are stealing all your bus speed?

Its a pretty simple solution. If the producers are renting the equipment, and they are asking for the equipment to be able to create dvd’s, they are going to have to pay the cost for that part of the equipment.
DVD creator on the app store is between 20 and 40 bucks. Compressor is 50 bucks. Toast is probably 80 bucks?
(They will have to pay for blank DVDs as well)
If the producers can’t handle this type of cost, i might be looking for a different place to work, as i’d be wondering if my pay cheques will be coming in.

I don’t have the newer model of a teranex, but on my older model there is both loop out and output.
If you plug from the loop out, you are only going to get the input signal passed through. Are you sure you are on an output, and not a loop out?

If this is happening on a brand new, fresh fresh sequence you might want to create a new user profile to see if something is corrupt in your profile. I don’t think i’ve ever seen that happen on a new sequence, and can’t off the top of my head think of a setting that would cause it to happen. (is there an alt key command that would trigger an “insert video track here” command? Not that i’m aware of.

Remember moving tracks up and down doesn’t fix your layering problem…at some point you moved a track up or down within your timeline, but that doesn’t change its heirarchy. First track made will always be on the bottom of the layers. If you have 10 tracks, and you delete tracks 3 and 4… then decide later to add more tracks, it is going to give you back a 3 and a 4. Putting those on top of track 10 doesn’t make that tracks layer be above track 10. Best way to move items up or down the timeline is to create a new track that is above everyone else, and move the clips from the lower track up to the newer track

As far as i’m concerned, Organization should always be set up to allow anybody else in your facility to step in and find stuff in your box. I understand you may be a lone wolf, but if you use that rule, it will keep your project organized.
I always have a bin called FX, which is minimized and hidden from my view. I put all my motion effects in there. (much like your titles, i don’t usually need to access them, but i need a place to put them.)
Same for everything else. I create a bin called titles, audio in, and _sequences. (the _ keeps it at the top of my list)
I don’t use mixdowns at all. We go from offline to online in other boxes, and mixdowns are an easy way to kill that workflow.
For AAFs I always duplicate my timeline, put in a bin called “to sound”…and let it mess up that bin to its hearts content.
As you said at first, it has to make sense to you…for me, it has to make sense to everyone else as well, as we may have to jump on to someone else’s project at anytime.

do you have an external drive plugged in? If so, unplug it then launch the program.
