Did you link, or use avid media files folders?
If you linked, just make new links..Avid should catch on.
If you use avid media files folders, check that those folders are in the correct spot, and delete the databases.

If all you need to do is get audio back to resolve, then yes there are other methods, but the issue quite often is that a sound house wants to work with the original audio files, and the information they need is (kinda) destroyed by Resolve in the first place…thus the ALE.

Actually Tolis is…was extremely proprietary software, but you really didn’t need to pay for the restore portion of it. I would be pretty weary of trying to buy a license for a piece of software that has essentially been out of business for 9 months, and is a few months past the aforementioned “we are really close” date. Argest was extremely buggy as well. Not nearly as stable as BRU. My Windows version was unusable….literally…it couldn’t access my network drives. They told me the next update would fix the issue….that was in June.
As for the software Bob mentions, it is all based on LTFS, which is open source. I can write a tape on preroll post, and open it on any other computer that has any other companies LTFS software (including BRU’s LTFS extension, or simply use the free LTFS software that is provided by most drive manufacturers.

I’m sure the “legal” answer is, without permission, non of us can really use any clips from anything we’ve worked on, unless you own the production. If you had stipulated in a contract that you would be able to, obviously that is different. But just because we worked on a show, that doesn’t give us any special rights. (not that I’m aware of)
Typically a note to the producer who hired you, asking for permission, would be the best course of action.
A lot of us have good enough relationships with our clients that it isn’t that big of a deal, as long as the program/movie has been released or aired. But it never hurts to ask first.
As I read your post again, i’m wondering if you are actually asking about using footage from a show you didn’t work on, and doing your own composition for it, for demo purposes.
If so, that might be a bit misleading, and perhaps a bit sketchy. You would certainly have zero authority to rip and use the footage.

It has long been a problem trying to sync audio in Resolve, then create proxies, then send to Avid, and then return to Resolve, and try to relink to original audio.
The tutorial you referenced did not do a complete workflow, and in fact didn’t even finish a proper workflow to Avid. He had you make an ALE File, but didn’t show you what you should do with it. (That ALE contains the information you would need to get this workflow to work properly).
I’ve recently done a series of workflows to and from Avid and Resolve. In this one i go the extra mile and explain why you want to make an ALE, and what you should do with it.
In your situation, your Avid editors can probably still edit and merge the ALE, and reoutput a list for you.

Anything you don’t want blurred simply has to be farther down your nide tree than your blur…its just like working in layers

Can you not create a shortcut for markers, and just enter it live?
Can’t say I’ve tried it for audio only, but I’m sure you can do it when capturing off tape.

If you log in to your account with avid, you should be able to update…or call support, they will usually handle license issues.
Nobody Else can give you a dongle updater..it is tied to your dongle
