Thanks for the help guys, think I got my head around the problem now!

Thanks Ted, I’ll look into freeform it seems like a step up from what i’m doing at the moment.

The displacement technicque we are using with the parallax effect in kony as well, as it adds a little bit more depth and tricks your eyes into thinking its super slow motion camera. Got it looking pretty good so far!

Those animations are amazing Jon, great job! Its pretty much the same as the effect we are going for too!

Yeah had both images the same size and those settings set, but still couldn’t get it aligned. I’ve done it successfully on a single clip which made the face move very slightly which is what I need, just so it makes people feel the illusion of 3D. The problem is the displacement layer seems to have a mind of its own so only aligns on some pictures. I must be doing something wrong on import i think…

  • I would also love to know how to do this well, the graphics in that sample are very nice.

Strangely enough as soon as I read your post and turned the lights back on they magically worked and stopped turning brighter?! Thank you very much for your telekinetic fix.

Seems it was just the size of the tracking marker I used, which I definitely should have realised! Oh well always learning!

    Thanks for your help guys!

    Hey Andrew,

I’m in a 1280 x 720 16 bit project, I’m tracking a part of an old musket rifle which doesn’t really move very much at all just sways very steadily. Its so I can apply it to a Null and then parent the null to some explosion effects I have.

    Here’s a screenshot:

I never took into account the size of the tracking marker I set, maybe that would be the problem?

Brilliant! Thanks Hector just what I was looking for.

  • You can get Avid on Mac OSX too, which runs just as well as the windows version. Are you asking whether you can run them all at the same time or whether they have different workflows?

  • My iMac is the base model which came with:

2.5GHz Quad Core Intel Core i5 (sandy bridge) processor
    1920 x 1080 resolution
    4GB (two 2GB) memory
    500GB hard drive
AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB

Its the exact one they offer now, all I did was upgrade the RAM after purchase.

  • I have a Mid 2011 21.5 iMac with the base model specifications and Avid MC6 runs great on it. I upgraded to 12Gb RAM recently just to help with intensive processes and so I can run other programs faster and at a cost of only £30 its a brilliant upgrade.

One thing to remember if you get an iMac is to change the colour profile when editing as the results you see on the screen may not be anything near what you may see on other PC screens, or broadcast monitors.

If you do buy from Apple don’t get their RAM upgrades as they are massively overpriced for what you can achieve through manual installation after purchase.

    I hope this helps!
