Hi Steve,

No I didn’t play around with the settings. I’m hoping someone has experienced this and therefore will help save me lots of time by not having to render over and over.

I’ve heard of converting the files to a more compact format, doing all your edits using these and then replacing the “compact” format with the original media.

I’m starting to use AVCHD with my new camera and came across an article describing this for those whose PCs can’t keep up while editing AVCHD. Perhaps this solution could be adapted here.

just a thought.

Yes I shot on Mini DV using my dvx100.

not a CPU/PC problem Danny, i7 w 12 GB RAM, everything else works perfectly.

I had used the default template.

I’ve since deleted that jittery mp4 and re-rendered using Sony mp4. This is smooth although it did introduce top/bottom black bands

Thanks John, this is just what I was looking for. I’m still learning about all these various formats. I wasn’t aware that .avi is the same as “SD”.

Will this format be good enough quality for them to burn a DVD with?

Basically, I want to give them the best quality… they can downgrade themselves to suit their needs ie. Internet.

So I purchased the HMC-150.

Q. which workflow do you recommend,
A.importting the .mts files natively and work from these OR
B. converting them using the utility provided by Panasonic?
