Thanks for this great tip Norman!
I had it and wasn’t aware of it. Not bad at all and easy to implement. It’ll do the trick.
    Cheers,

In respect to memory over-writing, I think Norman has a good point. Only kernel mode processes can stampede over other processes’ ram and… if this were the case, from badly written kernel modes application(s), the entire system would tend to crash and misbehave randomly, not just in Vegas.
    very interesting topic.
    my 2 cents.

The card you use is not GPU enabled? I thought most of them were nowadays. or… is it an older card?

lol… heaven and stress free ! Love it!

Thanks. I really liked the GPU for the significantly faster render times. Again, a feature I may have to forego.

Which card do you have? I purchased an NVIDIA specifically to reduce render / preview issues. no such luck.

    Got it!
Thanks Steven. I’ll leave the other settings as is.

Do you render with GPU on?
Do you have the corruption when you sometime preview, as I do?

    Reporting back:

As Steve noted, closing Vegas and re-opened, and … turned off the video preview GPU… and it worked.
I then turned video preview GPU back on… so far so good.

Obviously a bug in Vegas. One should not have to close/open.
I noticed other settings in the prefs of video preview options, like “wait for vertical sync”. I wonder if tweaking some of these other settings could have a positive impact.

    Good points Norman.

I love the idea of a sharing area… like other software companies have. At times, it seems to me as if Sony Creative is a few-person operation, ie. skeleton crew 🙂

    Thank you both.

Yes I do have GPU turned on. From what I gather from you Steve, this won’t help though. I will give it a try nevertheless.

I will try the close/restart Vegas and report back. It’s currently happening on a project. It’s very inconvenient though as I cant get a clear preview of what my work looks like. I even tried a RAM preview of a troublesome section… problem appeared there as well.

PS. my apologies for using the term “clip” erroneously in previous posts. I meant to say “event”. Good catch.

  • Thanks a bunch Tyson. Quite the code.

Thanks for the input Stephen. I’ll also check out the Vegasaur tool. I do have Vaast Ultimate, which I use every now and then.
