Thanks fellows, Perhaps I should be clearer.

The project is 1080i and I want to render the mpg and ac3 files to be used an DVDA to eventually burn the DVD. At this stage, my lengthy issue is with the render in SVP, I haven’t touched DVDA yet.

    Project prop: 1080 60i, 29 fps
template to render: Main Concept mpg2,DVDA NTSC widescreen video stream. I changed to CBR 3400 (as recommended by the BitCalculator util)

render estimates at 5 hours! (and crashed after one hour. I swear I’ve rendered mpg2 before and it was much shorter.

    Arggggghhhh! help!

    Hmmm… the estimate keeps increasing… it’s now 4.5 hours.
As I look at the preview window of what is being rendered, it looks like “less than realtime” as far as play speed is concerned.

I rendered for DVD a while ago and i’m sure it didn’t take this long.
    Thoughts?

    UPDATE:

For what it’s worth, I’ve observed that this “corruption” appears much more frequently when I have 2 or more Vegas instances simultaneously opened or… when I’ve opened (and closed) more than one simultaneous session in an edit session.

I do this regularly. It’s Vegas’ not-so-charming method of providing us editors with a variety of edit timelines, found in other NLEs. The actual name for this missing feature escapes me.

    Thanks for the tip Aleksey,
    I’ll check out Vegasaur.

I have Vasst Ultimate Pro but I don’t think it copies track motion keyframes. I’ll look for it when I’m at my editing station.

Absolutely, many ways to skin a cat in Vegas 🙂

“Once you make the lower-thirds project file for each name, why would you ever have to open it again?”

I often have to tweak my lower thirds. For instance, I’ll provide a rough edit to the client for review. Once I receive the feedback with desired changes, I implement these and sync everything up. Having a musical background, I love syncing to the beat including syncing the lower thirds. Because my lower thirds can be complex with layers of audio and video, I personally save time having adjusting when everything is at hand.

As you say, it comes down to personal choice. Both accomplish the same result.

I see what you mean Stephen.
Here’s a screenshot of my method for the animated lower third. I personally prefer it as I’m not fond of having tons of nested projects for the lower thirds. By using parent track-motion, it’s all in my main project and if the need to be adjusted (ie. match new music, etc), it can easily be done efficiently, without having to individually opening/editing each nested project.

    Does this make sense?

Yes Stephen, parenting and using parent track motion does save time when creating composited motion.

The downside, as mentioned in my original post, is that when you copy the set of tracks which make up your animated lower third, the keyframes in the parent track motion don’t get copied. You must copy them using the technique described by Dave.

Unless there is a method not yet suggested here.

Is there a method of turning off GPU globally for renders or must it be done for each render template?

Thanks Stephen, I’ll upload a sample.

In your example, you’re not moving the text with the white background that slides in. If you were (as I’m doing), parent track motion is a perfect tool.
