    Hi Tristan,

like John Stanowski said (many thanks for that John!) your 3d view should be set to ‘Active Camera’.

In your screenshot right in the middle below the viewer you see ‘Left’ in the camera view drop-down. Set this to ‘Active Camera’ to wipe out that misterious black ????.

  • The files resist on an SSD connected via SATA.
But once in memory the one file is not touched anymore is’n it? Am I wrong?

  • I will try this, thank you, Phil!

  • Hi Adam,

I was afraid of s.o. asking this!

    Some reasons against PS

    1. Photoshop has issues with the correct compositing of render passes with alpha channels. There are black seams around parts of different material or pass information. Even wth premultiplied Alpha OFF(;-))

    2. I cannot use CC, like I know to do with AE, Toxik or formerly in Combustion

    3. I cannot use keylight to key the color matte passes for correcting some object parts separatly. Or is there a keylight for PS

But how do people work in 4k when compositing 3d animation in AE?

  • Ahh, thanks, Dave! At least: that way it is possible to setup the basic comp.

Yes, more RAM would help… but how long?

    Thanks David,

    > Unfortunately, that’s not possible currently.

Was the answer from adobe to a similar question. Keyframing of ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) is not possible. But my idea was suggested as workaround:

Import through ACR with 16 bit per Channel and apply exposure in AE.

    Hi,

I have BM Decklink HD Extreme 3 on Vista 64.
It was meant for monitoring purposes with Video Desktop Feature. Unfortunatly it does not work.
According to BM, Vista 64 does not support it.

    Can you confirm this?
    Maybe Windows 7 does?

    Cheers,
    Gerrit

  • Hi Steffen,

Cannot say anything about HDV, but DVCPro HD:

I am using Cineforms ProspectHD Intermediate codec with DVCPro HD footage. Usually I scale up the clips to 1920×1080 in HDLink, Q: Filmscan 1/2 to benefit from 10bit/4:2:2 in postproduction. The system it works flawlessly on is a Dual Core 3.2 Ghz, Ram 4Gb, wth. Samsung SATA HDDs. For AE I should have more RAM and a better CPU, but editing in PPRo works fine.

I like your film, especially the swing shot! Entertaining, without any plot. Nice work for just testing the cam.
Did you shoot on P2 cards or Firestore? Which NLE did you use (Premiere pro, Vegas, obviously not FCP -> WMV). Did you use the raylight codec?

    Gerrit.
