I am also a neophyte who is now able to use 8.1 thatks to the DVD training programs form VAAST. Douglas Spotted Eagle does an outtanding job on the disks and helps you set-up all of the preferences.

You may be able to download the DVDA software on the Sony site. If it didn’t come with your software you may need to purchase it.

I cannot burn a disk from Vegas, with the exception of BluRay, for which I don’t have a burner. Heck, I having enough trouble. The earlier thread covered this situation.

I have Sony Vegas Ultimate 64 bit. Vista is not friendly to some of the Adobe products so there are some outside programs that I cannot use. I’m told 32 bit is friendlier. XP would have been a better route for me, but I have a Dell workstation that handles Ultimate real well. So… I have a great editing machine…

Don’t get discouraged. Read these Forums and they will help.

    Good Luck, Gerry

    Thanks for the reply.

I did a clean install of Vista-Business. I then tried to Upgrade to Vista-64… no luck. I went into the Setup and made the DVD the boot drive and made a clean install of Vista-64… and it worked. I got the idea off of the Microsoft Help site.

I was amazed that Vista-64 Upgrade actually made a clean install. I next installed Sony Vegas 8.1 and DVDA, with no problems… AND THEY WORK!

Previously, I tried for two weeks to get Vista-Business to upgrade XP Pro, with no success. DVDA installed with no problem.

Now I know what to do over the Christmas holidays.

Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year. Thanks for watching over us.

    Regards, Gerry

As you guessed, I am merely selecting Vegas and trying to choose “apply?” I wasn’t aware I can SAVE the shuttle pro settings in the Shuttle Pro interface.

When I get home I’ll give it a try. According to the instructions, once you start the software, the shuttle automatically finds it. This worked with another editing program I tested.

I appreciate your taking time from your busy schedule to try to enlighten a 74-year old Marine (yes…yes… I’m still working “fulltime, Life style, you know).

    Again thanks, Gerry

I shut-off all resident programs and now, after I start Vegas, when I place the mouse on the icon, it says vegas 8.0.exe However, it still won’t work.

I have another earlier, and simpler editing program, and the Shuttle Pro started immediately, and worked.

    It’s one of life’s many mysteries…

Thanks for the reply and I hope you have a Happy Holiday Season. I thoroughly enjoy your training tapes, which are most helpful.

    Regards, Gerry
