Wrong Vista Upgrade
Last night my helpful son upgraded Vista Business to Ultimate. However, he didn’t realize there were two different upgrades. He thought it was disk 1 and 2. You know what’s coming next… he installed the 32bit version and I wanted the 64 bit version.
Do I need to reformat the drive to install the 64 bit version?

Possibly depending on your preference. You could do a dual boot system. Here is a link on it. I am sure you can find step by step instructions simply by doing a search for it if you want to do it that way and if you have the room to run both.

I did a clean install of Vista-Business. I then tried to Upgrade to Vista-64… no luck. I went into the Setup and made the DVD the boot drive and made a clean install of Vista-64… and it worked. I got the idea off of the Microsoft Help site.
I was amazed that Vista-64 Upgrade actually made a clean install. I next installed Sony Vegas 8.1 and DVDA, with no problems… AND THEY WORK!
Previously, I tried for two weeks to get Vista-Business to upgrade XP Pro, with no success. DVDA installed with no problem.
Now I know what to do over the Christmas holidays.
