is it not an option when you first start the project?24p 24i 25p etc etc?
-
depends how they look rubbish…
when imported they should appear in the bin as matte clips if they’ve imported correctly…they may look crappy until you put them in context.
Another method(which can be more flexible anyway…)
output the sequence twice from ae
(I use targa sequences or similar not movies, whatever…)first as a unpremultiplied seq/mov, and then a seperate alpha only seq(I think you can do this in one go by adding output modules), then import both to avid telling the import options to ignore alpha info, add both layers to the timeline, fill v2, alhpha v3 and add a matte key effect to the clip on v3(you my have to invert key in the effects editor…)
mail back if you need more help

sorry, don’t know from the toop of my head, try…
422 from black magic to media composer as if it were a deck, check in your settings under vtr emulation, you can chose various deck types, best chose something you know balck magic recognises-bvw75 is a fairly standard emulation mode, you must then enable vt emulation under special, then you should be able to treat the media composer as a vt, just put the appropriate seq in the monitor.

yep…
clip menu…
recreate titles and mattes, then select your resolution. Probably tidier to delete the origional media first but not essential.

yep…
some mediacomposers offer vt emulation,(under special menu)
poss uses, for a digital cut, you can control/run a sequence from a dvw by selecting player on the digi front panel, a la machine to machine editing. Media composer will respond to the obvious transport commands, but before youy ask record has no affect, nor eject!
I’ve seen avids controlled over 422 by slo-mo controllers, grass valley etc.

or, depending on where you’re taking the seq, automatic duck will probably solve the issue, but not for free!

facing the lack of a better answer – no I don’t think so, I’ve faced this prolem myself-
workaround (if the sequence isn’t huge, and depending on type of seq/effects)
dupe seq
add a color effect to all you fills to white them out
mix down and export, this will crate a matching matte pass.you can then add them in ae or similar (track matte) and export from there as video and alpha.

this may be too obvious but you didn’t mention it in you post.
RELINK?If this doesn’t work drag the files again to a new folder, copy the media folder name, rename the folder, paste the origional name to your new folder and then allow avid to rebuild its databases. The folder name is critical within avid…(OMFI MediaFiles).
Has someone changed the read/write permissions for the folder/drive?
For windows, right click, properties, security – permissions… -
Apologies if I’ve misinterperated the question…
I’ll try and answer with an example4 shots butt joined on v1
create an new vision track
on v2 you add an invisible edit between shots 1&2, 3&4,you then drag an effect, resize for example to track 2 between the two invisibles, this effect will then affect everything below it, a global dve channel in a way. This is applicable to almost every effect type.
If I’ve misunderstood then drag the effect off the timeline to a bin and remail telling me what label is given to the effect when you drop it in a bin.

Ron – sensible answer for post community…alsorts of filters, film look from saphire can do the trick as can magic bullet. But if you just want to lose that video edginness then dupe the fields and crush the very bottom your curves.
there we are, cheap, cheerful and no patronising bull!
