What was the total amount of space burned on both discs? Select the VIDEO_TS folder, and check its properties.

Perhaps Nero burned up to 1gb if your original was less than 1gb?

When Nero does the copy process, do you drag anything into the Nero workspace, or do you just just tell Nero to make a copy? I’m wondering if Nero burned the new copies as “DATA DVD” instead of “DVD-VIDEO” (this might explain why the copies do not play in a dvd player).

There used to be an application called eDVD that let you add buttons to an existing DVD (not sure if you can still find a copy of that around the net).

That sounds like the normal action for the remote control STOP button. How about using the Menu button(s) instead? Or perhaps the NEXT button to skip to the end of a title and perform the end-action code?

Not sure about the timelines, but for buttons on a menu, for SD-DVD You are limited to 36 buttons for 4:3 menus, and 18 buttons per 16:9 menus.

If you encode the audio to AC3 out of Vegas, do the following (I got this from other folks on the net who replied to the “low volume ac3 audio” question)

Encode the audio to AC3
Custom tab
On the first tab, set diag. norm to “-31”
On the last tab marked Preprocessing, set the Line Mode Profile and RF Mode Profile mode to “none”

Note: you can save this as a preset for future encodes.

User Friendly – Corel/Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 Plus — mostly template/wizard driven. Also has some “editing” functionality (and bonus “basic” HD Authoring). Corel also has VideoStudio 11 Plus — which has more editing functionality and a basic Authoring module similar to MovieFactory.

Consumer level with full menu setup and navigational control — Sony’s DVD Architect Studio. It has some “automation”, and is flexible enough to let the user have control over navigation and playback sequence.

There’s also free solutions (really basic) such as DVDAuthorGui.

None of these are PC versions of Studio Pro…

Hi,

What software have you tried? Are you partial to a specific platform (PC or MAC)?

I’m not familiar with the Mac (so Michael has given you a start on how to do that with DVDSP). There could also be other tools/utilities that can add it to an existing dvd.

On the PC, you can do it from within some Authoring software (such as DVD Lab Pro), and there’s also some post-edit tools such as PGCedit or DVD Remake Pro that take an authored DVD, and add the pauses afterwards.

Question is, would you ever need a “Play All” (without pauses), and the version that pauses after every chapter?

If you happen to be running “windows” in an intel mac, then you could download the free IMGBURN software. You would copy your VIDEO_TS folder to a folder on your hard drive, then use IMGBURN to BUILD the dvd from the folder — it can write directly to dvd, or create an image.

Hopefully, the VIDEO_TS you have is a “complete” dvd-video (not sure why it won’t play on your computer if it is complete). It wouldn’t play in a set-top dvd player if it was burned incorrectly.
