I have version 13 only, so I can’t be of much help in the caomparison of ver 12 upgrade to ver 13. However here is an article (posted by others) that may be helpful in your decision making. Interestingly, the test they performed was with version 12.

I tried several conversions, the issue was the file I inputted was read, then Adapter reported an error, before the conversion. It may have been something with my installed copy or my system. I don’t need to convert my files, as I have Quicktime installed and will keep it installed until there is a verifiable issue with security risks. I just wanted to try Adapter to see first hand how it works, and reporting what I experienced with the program Adapter. At this point, it’s not worth my time to figure out why the Adapter appears not to work on my system.

Hi Linda,
There are several things you could look at to help inporve your preview. Your system specs, a better intermediate file conversion, perhaps a GPU, etc.
However, as far as, Vegas Pro 13, I think the best way to answer your question is to download the trial version. The trial will most likely put a watermark on your render, but for testing it would answer your question using your specific source files on your system.

This has been my experience. No go with ProRes or DNxHD (mov) files, but will work with h.264/avc (mov) files.

You don’t actually have to add the main video 11 times, then add 11 buttons…..
On the scene selection sub-menu, ‘Insert Media’ (the main video). Then copy and paste this button 10 times so you have 11 buttons. Arrange them to fit. Change the text to each reflecting the description of the scene (or you can do this as you go along, or at the end). Double click on a scene button and on the timeline window set the ‘in point’ and ‘out point’ to establish what part of the main video is to be viewed for that scene button. Repeat for each of the remaining scene buttons.
As John states, in the tree display it will appear as if there are 11 copies of the main video, but DVDA only uses one.

What you need to do is add the main video to your project 11 times. Don’t worry, DVD Architect is smart enough to only add it to the physical disc once. Then create 11 buttons that point to the 11 copies of your video and set the IN and OUT points to be just that one scene. This will give you the behavior that you are looking for.
