Follow up. Tried deleting the render files using render manager. Here is the response I got from the tech in lA after he did it:
unfortunately…no. I’ve went through render manager and deleted the render files. I’m getting this “general error” messages that pops up when I render on the edmMASTERsme sequence. I tried this on another mac and I get the same message. The problem seems to lie in the music and effects sequence. I tried exporting that sequence that way I could bring it into the master sequence and replace the old track, but I keep getting that error message.
Any ideas?

Hi guys, thanks so much for the answers. Unfortunately it did not work. He still has render files missing and when he tries to
re-render he gets the general error code. I did test the drive on 3 different computers before we sent and it worked and opened fine? What would you suggest? He did trash the render files then tried to re-render. He did try and re-start. I did send it with the render files. Could it be because his system is a 6.0 fcp and I did it on 5.2 fcp? I jsut don’t know/ Here is his reponse:
Hey George,I tried these various “fixes” and I am still unsuccessful. Maybe you should take back the hard drive and re-render everything. Then just send us an uncompressed video file, audio track and m&e track.

Thanks, again though I don’t like to sound like a moron, but I am when it comes to this! So, I need to reencode the entire timeline into a self-contained Quicktime. Then make a new file on the hard drive and save it on the hard drive. Then send them back the drive with only this file on it and all the pieces? Is there a step by step?

Hi Max, thanks. Everything was separted. 1 video track. two dialog tracks. 2 music and effects. they siad they could not find the render files although they had just been tested by another facility? I will try to lay off a Quicktime. Thanks again

Thanks Michael, I will do that. So when I export to the QT self-contained I output that to tape? They asked for the hard drive. I will output to tape on mini-dv in two sections 1 hour per each. Would this be the steps you would use? Is there a step by step you could point me to. I hate to sound like a moron but I want to do this by the numbers as it is holding up a very important project to us. I really do appreciate this.

Hi Max, I understand what you are saying BUT, no one else has ever had a problem finding the render files or anything else. The problem began when they tried to charge me 5 times what the agreed price was. Before I said no to the price hike (they tried to sell me everything (HD, re-mastering, multiple dubs, re-mixing,etc) after we had a agreed price quote) there was no problems at all. Anyway, they said they want a Quicktime file. My question still stands. Won’t a Quicktime file defeat the idea of seperate M&E tracks? That is the whole reason to have the dub done?

Thanks Randy, if the eq doesn’t work I may try that. It is not that we are having problems mixing in outdoor ambient or matching studio to location sound. It is that the dubbed studio recording sounds too clean. It does not have that open air sound. thanks again

Thanks John, I will try that now. It is ironic that usually we are trying to clean the ambient out of audio. This time the audio just sounds to clean. One of my guys said it looked like a Japanese movie. The lips are sinced perfectly it is just they sound too good! Oops!

Hi John, I really need to be able to do this artificially. The problem is the actors are scattered all over the country. I am sure there must be a way to filter the too live sound to give it more of an outdoor tone. I have the ambient just fine but the audio just sounds too canned. Any other ideas and I really appreciate your time. I was able to easily make a small room sound like a tunnel is there no way to make a small room sound like a yard? Thanks again guys!

Hi Ty, thanks so much for the response. The problem we had on location was a busy street and motorcycles constantly passing. The ambient is pretty useless. Is there a filter in Fcp that will give it more of a outdoors ring? Thanks again
