That was it. Even though we’re only working in 8 tracks, I suspect that FCP sees the fades as 2 tracks, making 8 tracks of realtime audio not sufficient.

    Thanks Jeremy!

Yes, I do understand the ramifications of what I’m saying. That said, this is the situation I’m in. Its likely that the master will be 2k or HD, but the DP (who is highly experienced in doing DIs) insists that if we start with 4k, we have the best chance of matching the cameras together and getting a homogenous look.

So although I agree that its not going to be a true 4k DI, its a starting point for us, and will help our DP to get the look he wants before we squash it all back to 2k.

What I’m looking for is the best up-res solution. I understand that its not ideal.

April 19, 2010 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Auto-Cropping?

I am having this same issue when trying to cut some ripped Youtube media (320×240, etc) into an HD project – I just work HERE 🙂
Anyways, Matthew’s solution worked like a charm for me, thanks for that. I am on board with Michael though, in asking Apple “what?” and “why?” If you are going to automatically crop my clips, at least have the decency to allow me to shut this function off…somewhere.

    Thanks All,

I’m having the same problem. This happens with only m2v files. However, I’m on OSX 10.3.9.

I’ve also noticed when dragging the m2v files into any application from the Finder, they tend to crash that app.

    Thanks for any input!

I’ve got a similar problem with M2V files in general. For some reason, the OS doesn’t seem to like them. Anytime I try to rename them, or get info, the finder window crashes and I have to relaunch. Very frustrating. This is on OSX v 10.3.9

Yes. That is indeed the case. It goes against the way I personally cut, but this co-worker of mine is very into long clips with subclips. I’ll pass that along.

    Thanks for your answer.

Yes, Thanks. I realized that shortly after posting and placed this on the proper forum.

This is only for DVD-R DL discs in jewel cases. But the same vendor claims, by phone, to be expecting printable discs “any time now”. Of course they were no more specific than that.
