Did a clean install of lion on a new partition a la the wisdom of Dr. Weiss. Still get weird behaviors that I found restarting X resolves. Seems more stable than under Snow Leopard. When I get the spinning beach ball I head to the fridge to refill my beverage. If it still spins when I get back, force quit. I did upgrade to 16 gigs ram which has helped in my opinion.

My sense is a large number of very disappointed pros jumped on the “it’s crap” bandwagon and didn’t approach this with an open mind. I don’t think it is that hard to figure out. But if you’re expecting a shiny new toy and Santa leaves you something you won’t be allowed to play with as it’s still missing it’s wheels, human nature is to find any reason to hate it. And it seems there are a lot of things to hate.

The non editors I’ve demonstrated it to get it quickly as they have no preconceived idea of how editing is supposed to work. That doesn’t mean they could become top drawer editors anytime soon. But it certainly broadens the appeal of FCPX and I don’t know why that’s a bad thing.

While I covered the earthquake in Haiti the journos would gather at the bar every night and we were all lit by the glow of white apples from their laptops. TV news has adopted the apple brand quite heavily from my observations.

If proper broadcast monitoring is necessary for proper color grading, and most pros seem to think the grading tools in FCP are inferior, and we know some form of XML support is coming, why the pressing need to have broadcast monitor output in FCP? Do your grading in Resolve on a broadcast monitor. Or will pros want to do color grading using FCPX?

No FCPX support listed In the read me under software supported but the next graph says

“The drivers install components in to applications including Final Cut Pro 7 and Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. If you have installed the drivers prior to installing any of these applications, we recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers. This will ensure that all relevant components are installed in their required locations.

Thanks Andrew. And after reading all the comments I’m more confused. Some seem to think you can calibrate to video color space and you should get accurate 8 bit color rendering, another said leave it rgb and let ColorSync take care of things.
