Cool,
Waveform and vectorscope… Very cool. Any chance that it will ever do sequences?

You might also want to look at Ultra 2. They have a Plus 90 mode that takes SD footage and outputs a 1280/720 composite. Of course you can do the same thing yourself in After Effects but this just saves you a few steps.
It also has hardware acceleration that should give you a faster than real time key if you have a modern GPU. The only downside is it is PC only but it looks like you are on the PC anyway.
I have ULtra 2 and I have thought about using it with Magic Bullet for Editor’s to de-artifact footage first. Since it is also GPU accelerated it could be a great combo.

December 12, 2005 at 6:57 pm in reply to: How to get an HVX for a feature film in Januarary? Please help urgent!Hi Jan,
I am really excited about the HVX-200 and once there are some DTE solutions available I am planning on getting one. And it looks they should be available right at about the time you are getting through your backlog.I thought the Italian footage Canon displayed at the conference was shot in HDV and then edited in DVCPRO HD. If this is true, don’t you think should be representative of what Harry could expect? Not saying it looked as good as the HVX-200 but from what I heard it did look really good.
Of course like you said, I personally plan to get try out any camera that expensive before I buy it. I see myself buying both camera although for different applications.

Hi Barry,
Thanks for all your reports from the floor at the conference floor. The HVX-200 looks to be mighty cool, and I see myself getting one once everything gets things get sorted out. Especially once there are a couple of shipping hard drive recording options.I agree that the XL-H1 is an excellent complement for a DVCPRO HD tape deck. That HD-SDI port presents alot of options if you can accept being tethered. I have also been reading pretty good things about the native HDV capabilities. How do you think the HVX-200 will compare to the XL-H1 when shooting 1080 60i?
Wasn’t some of the XL-H1 footage originally shot in HDV and then edited on DVCPRO HD? In particular I thought the Italian footage was shot in HDV. I think there are many like me who are shooting in Sony HDV with plans to finish with Final Cut in DVCPRO HD. Because I also do a fair amount of studio shooting the XL-H1 looks like it will find a place in my collection, especially since Canon appears to have them available now in quantity. Did you get a chance to do many comparisons between the two?
Thanks,
Gary -
I have seen it a couple of places. This is the only one I can find right now. It wasn’t a proper press release so I guess it could be wrong. I thought I even remembered a post here about a price drop.

Hush now! Don’t even talk that way!!

Hi Matt,
Are there actual hardware differences between the Mac version and the PC versions or are you just talking about drivers? Just making sure there isn’t a firmware difference.
Thanks

They have posted drivers for the extreme today. Very interesting.

Hi Andreas,
Great work on your codec! I took a look at your PC version when it was in Beta but this would be my first look at the Mac version.Would two Firewire 800 drives striped on that same bus be enough or would you need to have a seperate bus?
One the PC side do you think two striped SATA drives would be enough for 10 bit uncompressed? Since the Machina app is going to be available I am now quite interested in setting up another capture station and I think your codec raises some interesting possibilities.
Thanks again,
Gary
